Barbara Jean (Baxter) Hafemann, 75 years old, passed away on December 1, 2019 at her son’s residence in Hardin, MT.
Barb was born November 20, 1944 in Fairview, MT to Bertha and Cecil Baxter. She was the youngest of four children. She went to school in Fairview and Lambert, MT and graduated from Lambert in 1962.
Barb met Ralph Hafemann when they were only in the 7th and 8th grades. They were married on March 13, 1963. They moved to the farm west of Crane, MT in 1971. Barb and Ralph spent 40 happy years together before his passing in 2003. Barb continued to live on the family farm until 2016, when her health forced her to move to Hardin to live with her son Ted. She worked in various jobs throughout her life, but considered raising her children and working the farm her best job. Barb was previously active in the Richland Chapter of the Eastern Star and was honored to serve as Worthy Matron. She was a current member of the Yellowstone Chapter of Eastern Star. She enjoyed working on ceramics and doing various crafts. She always looked forward to summer camping trips with her kids and grandkids. Barb especially loved spending time with family and friends. She always thought of her grandkids first. She was affectionately known as “Crazy Grandma”.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, parents Cecil and Bertha Baxter, and her sister Thelma Young. Barb is survived by her daughter, Celestia (Wade) Roth of New Leipzig, ND; her son Ted (Gail) Hafemann of Hardin, MT, her son Kelly (Joanie) Hafemann of Glendive, MT; her brother, Collin Baxter of Anchorage, AK, and her sister, Virginia Fink of Fairview, MT; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Barb will be Cremated as per her request and a private interment will be held at a later date. Bullis Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.
