Carla Bighead

Carla Marie Bighead, 35, of Crow Agency, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday April 6th, 2019. 

Pretty Eagle, “De’axitichish” a name given to her by her grandfather David Stewart Sr. & Hard Work Brings Her Good Fortune “Immiaiibaaatchilash”, another name given to her by her sister Vera Jane Half, was born in Crow Agency, Mt. on July 30, 1983, a daughter of Merle W. Bighead Sr. of Worley, ID and Patleen K. Stewart of Crow Agency. She was given to Philamine Old Coyote at the age of two months and she raised her as her own. She was a member of the Ties the Bundle clan and a child of the Greasy Mouth clan. 

Carla attended several schools in Montana, California, Arizona & Idaho before graduating from Hardin Senior High School in 2001. She attended United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck ND as well as MSU-Bozeman majoring in Nursing. She also attended Youth where she traveled to Texas in 2003 to help clean up after Hurricane Claudette. Carla had many employment opportunities including firefighting, child care provider, waitress, baker, gift shop attendant, CNA and Paraprofessional. In school, Carla was active in volleyball and basketball, in Kindergarten she qualified for Cross Country Nationals. Carla later Coached a Basketball Team while in California.  

Above all “Cece Jones” is well known for her loving, fun, sparkly, goofy, magnetic personality; she is always full of adventure. Carla is a huge Greenbay Packer and Bobcat fan “Go Cats!” She is a people person and is loved by all that cross her path. Carla is Auntie to many children, makes everybody feel special and important. She heals broken hearts with her humor and smiles. Carla has a huge heart, she’s always willing to help when needed, she is known for giving everybody nicknames. What an amazing reunion she’s having with Waylon, Mama Phil, Grandma Carol and Kaala Adelia . 

She was preceded in death by Grandparents Milo Bighead, Carol One Bear, Adelia Little Owl Stewart, Mother Philamine Old Coyote, Brother Bear – Waylon Bighead , sister Desiree Old Coyote, Aunt Kathy Asencio.

Survivors include her parents, Merle (Maria) Bighead Sr. and Patleen Stewart; grandparents David Stewart Sr. Ruben Stewart, Tommy (Linda) Little Owl, Larry (Linda) Little Owl, Lauren Spint, Nora (Dennis) Big Hair, Wilma(Lawrence) Stands, Beverly(Tom) Pretty On Top, Manford (Darlene) Soldier Wolf,Alfreda Hart, Marvina Soldierwolf, Lazona Harris, Barbara Spang, Henrietta One Bear, Wilf and Mary Ruth McDougal; her son Boston Stewart; brothers Merle Jr. (Kailee), Milo (Ashlee), A.J. Bighead, Santino and Si’Cha Si’John, Nathan Jr., John, Christopher, Robin and Harlow Enick, Thomas Ray Old Coyote, and Cyle Old Elk, Leon (Cher) Stewart, Myron (Annie) Bement, Allen (Tash) Stewart; Sisters Jolauna (JD) Pickett, Sharlina Si’John, Bridgette King, Laura Little Owl, and Cecily Real Bird, Alyssa Pretty weasel, Candi Bighead, Brocade(Levi) Blackeagle; her nephews Josiah (Tia) Pickett, Cervante’ Stops, August and Qui’ets’sah Bighead; nieces Zeruiah (Darrian) Stewart, Vana, Emmerson and Kaydence Pickett, Blakelee & Colby Bighead; grandsons Manziel, Darrian (Mads) Jr, Remington & granddaughter Alenna; Numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. All her nieces and nephews that she considered her own. Special companion Cal Leider; as well as extended families in the Crow, Northern Cheyenne and Canadian nations, and a host of friends.

  • Carla Bighead Funeral Service Wednesday, April 10th at 11:00 AM at the Spirit of Life Foursquare Church in Crow Agency. Rosary Tuesday, April 9th at 4:00 at the Bullis Funeral Chapel in Hardin. Interment at the Fairview Cemetery.
