Cecilia Kaiser

Cecilia Bridget Kaiser, born Cecilia Bridget Meuret, passed peacefully to the Lord in the evening hours of April 18, 2018. She was born May 26, 1922 in Burwell, Nebraska to Thomas and Bridget (Boyle) Meuret. She graduated from high school in Burwell and became a certified teacher in the state. Cecilia married Arthur LeRoy Kaiser on January 14, 1944 in Burwell.

After their marriage they tended to his family’s homestead in Nebraska before following Art’s brothers to Montana in 1944, where their first child Sheila Marie was born. Shortly after they returned to Nebraska to work the same family homestead and had three more children; Thomas LeRoy, Gerald Louis, and Mary Bridget. They returned to Hardin in 1960 to rejoin their family and allow their children to attend high school in a less rural area.

Cecilia was a fantastic cook, able to make a great meal out of seemingly nothing. She loved to embroider and make beautiful cakes, and passed these skills onto her daughters Sheila and Mary. She was also an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers, collecting hundreds of sets; you could count on her receiving a new set at garage sales, looking for that “great find” to add to her collection.

She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur, her six siblings, her son-in-law Pete Carlton, and great grandson Dakota Lorenz. She is survived by sons Thomas (Sue) and Gerald Kaiser; her daughters Sheila Carlton, Mary (Dave) Gamble; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be Monday April 23, 2018 at 3:00 pm  at  the Fairview Cemetery. Donations may be sent to the charity of your choice. Bullis Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.
