Diane Rose Bad Bear Deputee 53, went to the other side of camp on Wednesday October 3, 2018 at Billings Clinic.
She was given her Crow name Baasaxbiluua Kush Diilish “Walks toward celebration”, by the late Hugh Little Owl. Diane was born July 11, 1965 in Crow Agency, the eldest child of Thomas (Mac) Bad Bear, Jr. and Shirley Little Light Bad Bear. Diane was a member of the Big Lodge clan and a child of the Piegan Clan.
Diane received her schooling at Crow Agency Public School, went on to graduate at St. Labre High School in 1984. She attended Little Big Horn College for one year.
Diane worked in Salt Lake City and moved back to Crow Agency and substituted at the Crow School in the classroom and worked in the kitchen. She worked at the Heritage Acres Nursing Home and sometimes at the hospital as an CNA. Diane was fire fighter and loved to brag about her firefighter skills. She enjoyed going to pow wows around the country with her family. She had love for children that led her to babysit for Alxis Hogan and Sam Horn every day and weekends.
Family was important, she loved spending time with her children, siblings, her mother, friends and all her brothers and sister’s children. Diane was a very humble person and showed respect to all family members and always greeted everyone with a smile. Diane was known for making homemade cakes at family dinners, birthday parties and holidays. In her free time, she loved going to the casino to try her luck and socializing.
Diane was a very humorous person, she had a comical way of responding to any situation. Mac would tell stories which he would share at family- gatherings of Diane and she would never get upset when stories were told about her. Diane would smile and laugh with the rest of the family.
Diane married Chester Deputee, Jr., June 1, 1992, in Sheridan, WY. from this union they had four children; Chester III, Ephraim, Audrey and Ina. They also raised Ashley, Ariel and grandchild Manssah Deputee.
Preceded in death by her father Thomas “Mac” Bad Bear, Jr.; grandparents Thomas, Sr. and Elvira Eagle Bad Bear, Richard Little Light and Theresa Reed Holds Enemy; her uncles Vincent Little Light and Artie Hold Enemy; her nephews Baby King David Bad Bear and Wayland Willy Deputee; her sister Nancy Two Bulls, adopted nephew Moraes Covers Up and her brother in law Collin Dale Deputee.
Survivors include her brothers; Thomas III, Vincent (Jaime) and Jeremy Eastman, Jace Real Bird and Tynel Louthian; her sisters Tammy (Robert), Alma (Tony), Edwina (Tim) and Lenna Russell; her paternal aunts Mary Louise, Nellie, Janice, Mary Alden and Mervaline Eastman; her paternal uncles Billy Ray, Edward and Carl Eastman, Conrad, Orrie and Carl Alden, Byron Bad Bear and her granduncle Padgett Bad Bear; her maternal aunts Joann, Victoria Brown, Una, Vicky and Rosella; her mother in law Audrey Deputee; her sister in laws Rebecca, Arnetla, Marceila and Gay Deputee; her brother in laws Wayne and Waylon Deputee; her brothers, sisters children and grandchildren Alicia (Gabe), Angie (Uriell), Roberta, Weston (Brenda), Emily, Tillie, Anthony, Mario, Kateri (Isaiah), Sean (Shareez), Seth, Scot, Jaivin, Jonathan, Tessa, Logan, Akicita, Fural, Joyann, Gunner, Ryder, Mac, Nox, Tynel, Caleb, Colton Jr., Mateo, Wesley, Isabella, Marcus, Mason and Daniel Peltier; as well as her extended families Bad Bear, Gunshows, House, Other Black Bird, Don’t Mix, Old Crow, Tobacco, Sees the Ground, High Hawk, Morisson, Little Light, Reed, Families of Inez Birdinground, Johnson families of Idaho and Spotted Wolf families of North Dakota.
Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
Funeral Service will be Monday Oct. 8th at 1:00 PM at the Hardin Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will follow at the Crow Veteran Cemetery.
