Douglas Limberhand, Sr.

Douglas, “Snazz,” Limberhand, Sr. passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019.

He was born in Crow Agency, Montana to Nancy Yellowrobe and Elmore Limberhand, Jr.  He was raised in Lame Deer, MT and attended school in Lame Deer, at the Busby Boarding School, in St. Labre, Missoula and Denver.  In high school, Snazz ran track, cross country and played basketball.

After he obtained his G.E.D, he attended the Indian Action Program at Dullknife College for Heavy Equipment and Carpentry.  Snazz was also a skilled mechanic, and in his younger years he could always be found working under the hood of a car.

In the 70’s, he was a Wildland Fire Fighter and did work as an electrician.  He owned his own construction company called, Limberhand Construction.  He really was a “jack of all trades”.  Snazz also worked for the N.C. Tribal Housing as a Foreman.

In 1975, Douglas welcomed his firstborn, Landon (Jaime) Medicine Bull.  Douglas married Anna Wolf Black and from this union they shared ten children including Douglas, Jr. (Jamie) James, Rachel (Moses) Roberta, Rebekah Charity (Jay), Joshua (Jasmine), Isaiah (Nicole), Blaine and Savannah.

After his son Douglas, Jr. was born he found his faith and became an Evangelist Pastor and participated in many revivals.

Sadly, Douglas left us after a lengthy illness, but he stayed faithful and strong until the very end.  Through it all, he kept his humor and good nature.  He didn’t let it get him down.  Snazz was a good man, great friend and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Douglas was preceded in death by his wife Anna; children James and Roberta; paternal grandparents Bessie American Horse and Elmore Limberhand, Sr.; maternal grandparents Jean Turkey Legs-Poitra and Jasper Yellow Robe; brothers Jasper, Daniel, Leroy and Robert Jefferson; sisters Bonnie and Cynthia; uncles George Limberhand and Donald Limberhand.
