Edward Leroy Keller Jr., 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2021. He was born in Lyman, Nebraska on February 13, 1936 to Ed and Frieda (Strecker) Keller. When he was five days old, the family moved to Hardin, Montana. He was one of eight siblings: Betty, Edna, Wayne, Joan, Marilyn, Conrad and Randy.
On June 5, 1955, Ed married the love of his life, Darlene Kern. The couple farmed and ranched in several different areas and raised their five wonderful sons: Ed, Rick, Ray, Keven and Jason. Over their 65 years of marriage, their love brought sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
In 1978, Ed and Darlene opened the Keller’s Polaris shop in Worland, Wyoming. Ed enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, fly tying, making walking sticks out of sunflower stalks, and most especially tending his gardens. Being outside in his yard was his favorite place to be.
He learned farming and ranching skills from his father and followed in his mother’s footsteps as a man who used his creative talents.
Ed will always be remembered by all as a gentle, caring, loving, hardworking husband, father, grandpa and friend. He was a legacy to many and was the patriarch of our family. No matter what task was in front of him he did all things with great passion. He was stubborn at times and his grandkids will never forget how he pinched their cheeks each and every time they came to visit. He felt very blessed and honored to be chosen as a Godfather to A.C. Hanneman, Shari Rogers, Karen Keeler and Brenda Suddeth.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Frieda Keller, brothers in law Floyd Schanaman, Ron Weir, Alvin Hanneman; sister Edna and her husband (Freddy) Schneider, and brothers Conrad and Randy Keller.
He is survived by his wife Darlene of 65 years, his five children Ed (Patty), Rick (Tammy), Ray (Kim), Keven (Jana), and Jason (Shannon) Keller; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings Betty Schanaman, Wayne (Marge) Keller, Joan Hanneman and Marilyn Weir, sister in law Joni Keller and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad and grandpa was a “Jack of all Trades Master of Many”. Rest in Paradise Papa Ed; we love you and will forever miss you.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday February 27, 2021 at the Fort Custer Golf Course in Hardin, Montana from 11:00 to 4:00. Bullis Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.
