Garry Owen Pitsch, 79, of Billings, Montana, passed away on July 3rd with his family members by his side.
He was born on January 3rd, 1941 in Hardin, Montana and attended schools in Crow Agency and Hardin. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman and graduated from Denver University with a degree in Accounting.
Garry was hired by Standard Oil Company in San Francisco, California and after several years was transferred to Europe to develop a computer program and accounting system there.
Returning to the United States after three years, he became the controller for a large potato farm in Oregon, eventually becoming a part owner. In 1998, due to disability, he retired and moved to Billings, Montana, where he resided for the past twenty-two years.
Preceding Garry in death were his parents, Peter Pitsch Jr. and Wilma “Billie” Pitsch, sisters Donna Slezak and Gay Ziler, and his brother Douglas Pitsch.
Garry is survived by his sister Xandra Pitsch of Billings, Montana and his brother Brent (Sherry) Pitsch of Avondale, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.
Garry spent many hours collecting and cataloging over 125,000 songs of every genre, and he also spent many hours copying pictures and items for the Big Horn County Historical Museum. His sense of humor, helping his community, and generosity will be missed by his friends and family.
The family is very appreciative of the care Garry received from the Billings Clinic, Compassus Hospice Care and the in-home care provided by Leighann Hubbard, Michelle Johnson and Daniel Persson.
Visitation Wednesday July 8, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM at the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at the Fairview Cemetery of Hardin, Montana.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Big Horn County Historical Museum.
