Leslie “Frank” Nomee Jr. 27, “Baakukoon Dakaakish” life ended suddenly along with his high school sweetheart, Denise Stewart Nomee on Aug. 4, 2017.
Frank was born on Feb. 4, 1990 in Crow Agency to Leslie Frank Nomee Sr. and Jocelyn Falls Down. He was a member of the Ties In The Bundle and a child of the Piegan Clan.
He was raised in the Sioux Pass area at the foot of the Wolf Mountains. He was raised by his grandparents, Bertha and the late Paul Nomee Jr., whom he called his mom and dad.
He enjoyed riding horses and has participated in the Indian Relays during the summer months with the Warman Team as a stopper for the last three years. He traveled extensively with the Indian Relay team, Warman which included travels to Canterbury Park, Minn. Frank went to many Turkey shoots with his Papa and won which he really enjoyed. He also enjoyed the outdoors, loved hunting with his brothers along with his hunting buddies; Justin and Dana Singer. He’s also participated in the annual arrow throwing tournaments. His latest adventure was entering the 1st Annual Junkyard wars and took 1st place which he was very proud.
Frank and Denise first met in junior high, their lives were forever entwined. They got married in Nov. 15, 2009 and had two beautiful daughters. Their motto was, “ride together, die together and fly together”.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Joselyn Falls Down, his grandfathers Paul Nomee Jr., Ronald Falls Down Sr.
He is survived by his children Joselyn, Paulie Nomee and Harrison Stewart, his father Leslie (Shannon) Nomee Sr. and Dee Nomee; grandparents Bertha Nomee, Georgine Falls Down, Melvina Jefferson, Adella Spotted Horse, Edward Not Afraid Sr., Alvin Not Afraid Sr., Caroline Morrison, Mary Carpenter and Mary White Hip; adopted parents Alta Deputy (Keifer); auntie Mommas Hannah (Thomas) Smart and Joanna (Colby) Gros Ventre, Janice (Thomas) Morning, Elroy (Kitty) Nomee, Edwina (Greg) Stump, Lorraine (Joseph) Bear Cloud and Gail (Fraizer) White Hip; sisters Lessa Nomee, Yvette Ward, Terrina (Virgil) McCormick and Calynn Falls Down; brothers Tevan, Paul Gary (Tiaa) Nomee, John J. (Whitney) Little Nest and Myers Little Light; As well as his extended families which include: Nomees from Coeur d’Alene and Rocky Boy, Not Afraid, Falls Down, Takes Gun, Morrison, Yarlott, Carpenter, Backbone, Bear Below, Left Hand and Pretty on Top family.
Joint funeral services will be Wednesday Aug. 9th at 10:00 AM at the Spirit of Life Foursquare Church in Crow Agency. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery.
