Isaac Hunter Gardner

Isaac Hunter Gardner went home to be with his Lord on April 27, 2021.  He was born on October 30, 2018 to Paula Nomee and Leonard Gardner, Jr. in Billings, Montana.   His Indian name Awaxaawe Heeleen Iichiilitchikshe Aakinnesh (Rides the Pretty Horses in the Mountains) was given to him by his paternal grandfather Leonard Gardner, Sr. He was a member of the Piegan and a child of the Big Lodge Clan.  He loved the outdoors and was always playing outside.  He loved to watch cartoons and his favorites were Spongbob Squarepants and Mickey Mouse.  His favorite foods were pizza, jojo potatoes and FunYuns.  He watched for the trains to go by and was so excited when he saw one calling out “Choo-Choo Train”.  He would call everything bob-bob.

He is preceded in death by his great grandparents Elsie Leider, Paul and Bertha Nomee, Jr., Cleo Medicine Horse Sr., Wilma Backbone and Gaylord Gardner; his great, great grandparents Eugene and Maude Yarlott, Agnes and Jessie Old Bear; his siblings Leola and Raychance Gardner, Kiki Hogan and Frank Nomee.

Isaac is survived by his mother Paula Nomee and father Leonard Gardner, Jr.; his sister Angel Real Bird; his brothers Dakoda Leider and McKennon Gardner; grandparents Mark and Agnes Nomee, Sr., Roberta Old Bear, Leonard Gardner, Sr.; his great grandparents David Yarlott, Sr., Alex and Mary Helen Medicine Horse, Jr., Buster Leider, Sr., Harriett Little Owl, Kenneth and Barbara Spotted. He was rich in family and was blessed with many great grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.  His extended family includes Leider, Nomee, Old Bear, Yarlott, Medicine Horse, Spotted, Bear Cloud, Old Horn, Don’t Mix, Beads, Goes Ahead, Morrison, He Does It, Iron, Gros Ventre, Black Hawk, Reed, Meta Stewart’s family, Not Afraid, Carpenter, Williams, Little Light, Backbone, Tobacco, Charlie and Bernice Jefferson’s family, Gunshows, Lincoln, Male Bear, Yellow Tail, WhiteManRunsHim, White Hip, Bull Chief, Hunts the Arrow, Pretty on Top, Old Dwarf, Spotted Horse, Hawk and Bird. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Multi-Purpose Building in Crow Agency with interment to follow at the Lodge Grass Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Thursday April 29 and Friday April 30 at the Bullis Funeral Chapel.  Bullis Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.
