Judith Evelyn Byrd Greenfield

Judith (Judy) Evelyn Byrd Greenfield, 81, went home peacefully to her Heavenly Father on November 9, 2020 with her husband Tom of 65 years by her side.

Judy was born June 4,1939 in Lovell, Wyoming. She was the third daughter to Elda Asay and George Alexander Byrd. She is one of 11 children.

Judy moved from Powell to Billings with family when just a baby and lived on a dairy farm on Alexander Road until she was a teenager.

She moved to Hardin from Billings when she was 16 years old and entered Hardin High School as a junior. It was at Hardin High School, a couple months later she noticed this handsome guy named Tommy Greenfield hanging out with her brothers. Judy married her high school sweetheart, Tom Greenfield in June of 1957. Several years later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Judy had several jobs over the years. She worked at Safeway as a cashier, the Hardin School District in the lunch program for 18 years and 8 years as a substitute teacher at Hardin High School well into her 70’s. She said she loved working at the school where she could see a lot of her grandkids on a daily basis. Dad and mom purchased Camp Custer Motel in 1976 and she helped run that until they sold it in 2010. They continued to help manage the motel until 2015 and then decided to move to Billings and flip a few houses.

Judy loved being a mom and grandmother. She said that this was her most rewarding job of all, raising her 6 kids and being a grandmother and great grandmother to 40 precious souls with 2 on the way that she met in heaven.

Judy was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved her new ward here in Billings and was so happy to have such a great bishopric and some beloved friends and neighbors.

Judy is survived by her husband of 65 years; her children Dan Greenfield (Nora) of Casa Grande, Arizona, Jay Greenfield (Leslie) of Hardin, Montana, Tadd Greenfield (Julie) of Greybull, Wyoming, Wendy Kinghorn (Dan) of Clayton, California, Patrick Greenfield (Kristi) of Hardin, Montana and Stephani Murdock (Kent) of Lodge Grass, Montana; her two sisters Sandy Newburg (Noel) of Golden, Colorado and Shirley Bird (the late Alvin), sister in law Cheryl Byrd (the late Ken) of Billings, Montana and brother-in-law Bill Greenfield (the late Helen) of Great Falls, Montana.

Judy was known for her kindness and love for everyone. She was always ready and willing to do any sort of service for those in the community. She sacrificed so much for the well being of her family and was always there to guide all her loved ones through the obstacles in life. Her last wishes and thoughts were of her family and her love for them. She will be dearly missed as she left us way to soon.

Graveside services Saturday at 11AM at the Hardin Fairview Cemetery. Funeral service at 2PM in Billings at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Wicks Lane.
