Karina Bertha Little Light went to other side camp on June 25, 2020. Karina was born on January 25, 1988 to Bruce Little Light and Natalie Little Owl. Her Indian name Bia iisitchiosh (A Woman Well Liked) was given to her by the late John Half. Karina was a member of the Bad War Deeds clan and a child of the Greasy Mouth clan. She went to grade school in Billings and Hardin and attended high school at St. Labre and Hardin. She received her GED while attending Salish Kootenai College and continued to live in Pablo and work at the Quiksilver Express. She returned to Hardin, completed her training as a CNA and began working at the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital. She was currently employed by TJ Staffing as a home health care provider and with the LIFTT program in Billings. Karina was a hard worker and always had a job. She was very proud of her independence and her ability to be a self-sufficient provider. Karina was a member of the Apsaalooke Baptist Church in Crow Agency.
Karina loved to cook and always made sure everyone had a “plate to go”. She especially enjoyed cooking with the late Leland Walks, Jr. The two of them were together for six years and shared a son. Karina was heart broken at his passing in 2019.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Gerald Little Light, Sr., Corrine Onion Chief Child; her maternal grandparents Hugh and Bertha Little Owl; her aunts Renee, Geraldine, Gloria Little Light; her uncles Gerald Little Light, Jr.; her sister Tammie Cashen and her brother Bill Cashen.
She is survived by her son Kyland Walks; her mother Natalie Little Owl; her father Bruce Little Light; her grandparents Agnes (Larry) Pretty Weasel and Regina Goes Ahead; her siblings Tawny (Tony) Reed, Jaime (Vincent) Bad Bear, Nehemiah Little Light, Alfretta (Henry) Reed, Brent Other Medicine, Kristle, Duran, Bruce and Kathryn Little Light ; her aunts Lucille Other Medicine, Clara (Dino) Martinez, Dora Little Light, Elsie Half , Johnann Hogan, Wyma (Richard) Little Light, Karen, and Beulah Goes Ahead and Mary (Todd) Volk; her uncles Thomas and Preston Onion, Marlon “Spooky” (Thelma) Goes Ahead, Vincent (Abigail) Goes Ahead, Jr. . Her special friends Violet and Alicia Bad Bear, Molly Hugs, Johnann Not Afraid, Siobhan Bulltail and Ooqualie Johnson. Her extended family includes the Onion, Chief Child, Little Light, Yarlott, Little Owl, Goes Ahead Pretty, Cloud Wellknown, Whiteman, Turns Plenty, DeCrane, Charges Strong families. This has been a very difficult time for our family, please accept our apology if we have not mentioned you.
A visitation will be held on Monday June 29, 2020 from 10:00 to 1:00 at the Bullis Funeral Chapel. A graveside services will follow at 1:30 pm in the Crow Agency Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.
