In Loving Memory of Laramie Wade Shield
Laramie Wade Shield, 26, of Sweetgrass Saskatchewan Canada, originally from Benteen, Montana, passed away February 5, 2021 at Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada.
He was born January 12, 1995 in Billings, Montana to Lonnie Bruce Shield, Sr. and Janna Lynn (Roan) Shield. He was a member of the Bad War Deeds Clan and a child of the Bad War Deeds. He was also a descendant of Chief Pretty Eagle. Laramie received two Indian names, his Cree name was Yootin-Napasis “Windy Boy” given time him by his grandfather Joe Roan, who proceeded him in death. His Apsaalooke name was Iishushpita Aakinneshe “Buckskin Rider” given to him by his papa Kenneth Plenty. He was a member of the Catholic Church, his godparents are the late Paul Matt,Sr. and Joy Matt.
He loved free styling rap music, he was very clever with his word choice, deep talks about life with his close friends, drawing and most importantly spending time with family. He attended numerous schools such as Hardin High School and Sakewew High Schoo. He participated in basketball, volleyball and soccer and it was his favorite sport above all.
Laramie lived a nomadic life moving to many cities with family and friends. Through out most of his teen years he lived in Pigeon Lake Alberta Canada with his aunties Cory Lightning and Philomine Roan. Living with them he became very close to his auntie Cory and she adopted him as her son. He was a very humorous person, always making those around him laugh. Laramie had a very infectious laugh, once he started laughing you couldn’t help but smile or laugh right along with him. He was loved by everyone around him and will be greatly miss by all.
He is survived by his loving father Lonnie B. Shield Sr; his siblings Travis (Ionna) Roasting, Robin (Robin E.), Eleisha (Kenneth) and Lonnie B. Shield, Jr.; his nieces and nephews Lane, Jaelon, Mekwan, Lynnelle, Garland, Tiny, Diederik, Valena, Lamia, Robby, Lucas, Janna-Lynn, Stanley and Yootin, his grandparents Myron and Sandra Shield; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as extended family such as Shield, HoldsTheEnemy, PlentyHoops, WhiteFox, Door, Young Dog, AroundHim, IronCloud, LongKnife, Chicken, Roan, WhiteCalf, Albert, Atcheynum and Swimmer.
Laramie is proceeded in death by his mother Janna Lynn Shield (Roan), sibling Laramie’s twin, Angel; nieces Marie Morrison and Mila Enick; maternal grandparents Lily and Joe Roan and Emil WhiteCalf; paternal grandparnets Glady Jefferson (Kaale Peetree) and Howard Shane; maternal great-grandparents Philomine and Paul Chicken, Emily and Lazarus Roan, Sarah and David WhiteCalf and Charlie ThunderBlanket; paternal great-grandparents Dorothy and David Jefferson, David PlentyHoops, Dora and Amos YoungDog.
Visitation Thursday Feb 11, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM at the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service Friday at 10:00 AM at the Bullis Funeral Chapel and burial will be held at the Fairview Cemetery.
