Baa’achinaaawish “Good fortune” age, 60, was born June 1, 1957 in Crow Agency. He enjoyed his family, friends and most of all his grandchildren. He created beautiful artwork such as bustles, breastplates, medicine pouches and moccasins. He enjoyed dancing and cooking.
He excelled in sports such as basketball, football, downhill skiing, rodeos and was a jockey in his younger years. He was a champion traditional dancer in the Teepee Capitol of the world. Dancing in Chicago, IL, Canada and the Southwest. He traveled the US and Canada doing what he loved and was adopted by the Dancing Bull family of North Dakota.
He attended Intermountain High School in Utah, where he made varsity for three years on the football team as an offensive lineman and defensive tackle. He was a forward on the basketball team in 1974-76. In 1975 his basketball team took the state championship. He received football scholarship to Haskell Indian Nations University, where he continued his education.
His grandparents Sam (Annette) Birdinground, Simon (Stella) Bull Tail, parents, John Bull Tail and Rosebud Birdinground; brothers Andrew Old Elk, Frankie Pena, Ronnie and Simon Bull Tail and sisters Geraldine Bull Tail and Linda Blaine preceded Lennis in death.
Survivors include his children Mariel (Harris) Red Star, Estee (Ted) Nomee and Phileo (Rhea) Little Light, sister Rena Colleen Frank, adopted brother Zig Jackson, many other brothers and sisters he loved, aunt Verna (Carl) Pease, uncle Clifford (Ardith) Birdindground; adopted sons Justin (Clarina) Hugs and Xainin Little Wolf; 16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, special nieces and nephews who love him, best friends Amos Frank and Bud Moran; as well as his extended family including the Birdindground, Bulltail, Takes Horse, LaForge, Shane, Bird, Backbone, Not Afraid, Sees the Ground, Walks, Sings Good, Goes Well, descendent of Plenty Coups and Pretty on Top families.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Thursday in the Church of the Open Bible. Interment will follow in the Crow Agency Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
