Mary Lynn Birdinground-Pickett, 57, of Dunmore passed away June 15, 2021, in Hardin, MT. She was born February 11, 1964, in Crow Agency, MT. A daughter of Elvenia and Lloyd Pickett, and the late Alexander Birdinground Sr. Mary grew up in the Crow Agency and Dunmore areas. She grew up working on her parents ranch—she spent many summers baling and stacking hay and riding horseback with her dad Lloyd and brothers. She attended school in Crow Agency and Hardin, and graduated from St. Labre High School in 1982. She attended Little Big Horn College and received her associate of arts degree in General Studies in 1993. She was a member of the Ties the Bundle clan and the Crow Community Baptist Church. Mary worked different jobs, most notably as a firefighter at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, in medical records at the Indian Health Service, and was most recently employed as a home care provider. Mary greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was always very supportive and proud of them for their achievements—always encouraging them to do good in sports and horseback riding. She loved her daughters—Leanna, Ashley and Teanna—and son, Terry, very dearly. She had a great sense of humor, and was always joking and laughing around with everyone. Mary was a loyal daughter and was very close to her mother, Elvenia. She was also a talented horseback rider throughout her life, and competed in barrel racing events in her younger years, traveling throughout the Western United States to compete in barrel racing. In 1981 she was awarded Rookie of the Year for the Great Plains Rodeo Association for her success in barrel racing.
