Neil Edward Schmidt, 72, of Hardin passed away December 18, 2019 at the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on August 30, 1947, in Streeter, North Dakota to Edward and Naomi Weisser. He got his high school diploma then served a tour in Viet Nam and was proud of the privilege of serving his country in the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, Neil went to work for Pierce Packing, then had Buds Freezer followed by working as a meat cutter at the Hardin IGA store for many years.
On May 5, 1972, Neil married Sally Laci, the love of his life. They had one son, Edward Henry Schmidt. They made their home in Hardin and had many friends and relatives around them.
Neil was preceded in death by his wife Sally, his son Edward, his parents Edward and Naomi (Weisser) Schmidt, 4 brothers Morris (Elsie) Schmidt), Eldred Schmidt, Virgil (Willis) Schmidt and Jimmy (Wilma) Schmidt; and two sisters Marvel (Sam) Maier and Myrtle (Bob) McNarry. He is survived by his brother Roy Schmidt and 2 sisters, Verlene Feller and Delphine Kruger as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was greatly loved by all. A special Thank You to Austin Feller who was with him to the end.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will be Saturday July 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Fairview Cemetery.
