On May 20, 2019 our beloved mother, sister, aunt and grandmother Rachel Ilene Whiteclay Beatty, 65 of Black Lodge went home to be with our Lord and Savior, surrounded by her loving family. Rachel was born December 16, 1953 in Crow Agency the daughter of Peggy Joyce Plenty Hoops and Philip White Clay, Sr. She received her education in the surrounding area including Pierre, South Dakota, Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, Oklahoma and later attended Southwestern Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she studied business. While at S.I.P.I. she met the love of her life, Frederick Beatty. They were later married and the couple made their home in the Black Lodge area. Rachel enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, berry picking, watching her favorite show Pioneer Woman, supporting her kids and grandkids in their school and sports activities. In her spare time, she loved reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. She was a prayer warrior and a mighty woman of God. She was a member of the Ladies of Lydia who traveled across the reservation to hold prayer meetings in many homes. She devoted much of her life to the Black Lodge Church. Rachel worked at Crow Head Start first as a bus driver and later as a cook. She loved cooking for all the kids during the 30 years she worked there. Rachel had a gentle heart and was kind and loving toward all of those she met. She was the best mom, grandma and auntie ever. She is preceded in death by her parents; her. mother Vera Ann White Clay; her brothers, Monte Ray and Philip, Jr White Clay.; her nephew, Matthew Dean White Clay; her nieces Marietha Joyce Cook, Raven White Clay and Ashley Beatty; her aunts Edith BirdinGround, Alice Mae LaForge, Eloise and Martha White Clay, Alice Mae Tobacco, Edith Big Lake, Emily Lincoln and Marie Yellowtail; her uncles Guy, Vernon, Jr., Harold and Bobby White Clay. Survivors include her husband of 45 years Fred; daughter, Rhea (Phileo) Little Light, Trish (Terence) Beatty and Teonna Blue; son Frank (Jade) White Clay; grandchildren, Taysha Raye Carmen, Houston Israel and Keithan Tyler; her sisters Veronica White Clay, Rebecca Buffalo, Rebecca (Calvin) Jefferson, Jr., Verna (Franklin) Jefferson, Dawna (Robert) Nelson, Clydine White Clay and Verna Koch; her brothers Hugh White Clay, Vidal, Franklin (Rebekah), Tommy (Cheryl) White Clay, Joe Vernon (Buzz), Jr., Richard, Ronald, Kenneth, Clinton, Delano White Clay, Clinton LaForge, Waylon Joe, George (Michelle) Beatty of Anadarko, OK, Gary (Cheryl) Harry of Oklahoma City, Leo Murie Pawnee, OK; her aunt Carol Ann White Clay; her sisters Gail (Bruce) Iron, Phylene Big Man, Claudia Bernadis, Debbie (Mike) Gust, Francine (John) Small, Sherry Lou LaForge, Mary Ten Bear, Joyce LaForge, Beldean Small, Sarah Pretty Weasel Old Bull, Berva Chandler, Susan Yellowtail, Violet Enick, Regina Stewart, Cheri Real Bird, Laura, Beverly and Jolene White Clay.
