Tammie Cashen

Tammie Sue Cashen, age 44, of Galveston, Texas (formerly of Billings, Montana) passed to the other side of camp at her Galveston home on Friday, July 26, 2019.  She was born in Billings, Montana on September 10, 1974.  Her Apsaalooke name is, “Amaahilaxiasse,” (Has Outstanding Work) given to her by her Grandmother Olive Bad Bear.  She is the daughter of the late Charles and Annie Rose (Williamson) Cashen.

She is a member of the Bad War Deeds and a child of Whistling Water Clan. Tammie was raised in Crow Agency, Montana and later moved to Billings.  She made her home in Galveston, Texas for the last three years of her life.  Tammie graduated from Plenty Coups High School in 1994.  In 2009, she graduated from United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, North Dakota, with an Associate of Applied Science and then her licensing as an LPN. In 2018, she was an honor student on the President’s List where she received a certificate in Electrical and Electronics Technology in Galveston, Texas.

Tammie will be remembered as a loving and social person with an infectious laugh.  She always had her heart and door open to friends and family in their time of need.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Annie Rose Cashen, Maude Williamson, Hugh and Bertha Little Owl, Dexter Williamson, Cora Bends, Clay Bends; her adopted sister Russlyn Plainfeather, her stepmother Annie Jo Bad Bear and her aunt Mariam Bends.

She is survived by her children Tarynn (Jerry Pretty Weasel, Jr.) Dione “DJ”, Tyrese, Tamryn Bellrock, Hezekiah Whiteman and Nehemiah Cashen; her grand children Taisha Old Elk, T’Ian Torres and Jaycee Pretty Weasel; her brother William “Bill” Cashen; her grandmother Annette Couture; her adopted sisters Tawny (TJ) Reed, Jaime (Vincent) Bad Bear, Karina Little Light (Leland Walks), Seresa Bends (Dale Jefferson, Sr.), Delphina Teeth, Amy Howe, Philamine (Mark Nomee, Jr.) Spint, Cindy Crooked Arm, Rhoda Couture, Alfretta Reed (Henry, Sr.), Trudy Old Crane, Ivanna Plainfeather (Esley); her adopted brothers Nehemiah Little Light, William Bends, Paul,Levi and Wylon Plainfeather, Robert (Sarge) He Does It, Jr. Scotty (Misty) Toineeta; her adopted mother Natalie Little Owl; her adopted parents Russell and Bonita Plainfeather; her Godparents Joy and the late Paul Matt; her aunts Suzy and Colleen Couture, Debbie (Marlon) Passes, Janice Singer, Beulah Goes Ahead; uncles Gary (Francine) Reed, Darrell (Ann) Couture, George (Annie) Couture; special friends Mary Plainfeather and Alice Wall; extended families including the Bends, Williamson, Reed, Lion Shows, Rock Above and Big Day families.

Funeral Service is Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Burial at the Crow Agency Cemetery.
