Taylor Fitzpatrick passed away on July 11, 2020. He was born August 18, 1989 in Crow Agency on Friday morning of Crow Fair. He was a genuine “Crow Fair Baby”. He was the son of Sheldon and Lori (Swank) Fitzpatrick. He was a member of the Big Lodge clan and a child of the Bad War Deeds clan. His Indian name, “Ishbaashuuwa itchiish” (One whose feathers are outstanding).
Taylor attended school in Hardin and graduated from Hardin High School in 2008. While in middle school and high school, he excelled at sports playing basketball, football and participating in track and field events. He ran on the 4X400 meter relay and the 4X100 meter relay teams. He excelled in the high jump and triple jump and threw the javelin. Taylor was an awesome basketball player and by middle school was able to dunk the ball. As a sophomore, he was named as a starter for the Hardin Bulldogs and in his junior year helped lead the Bulldogs to the Class A State Tournament in Belgrade where the team took 4th in State. He received an All-Conference Award for that year. Taylor was a quarterback and wide receiver for the Hardin football team. During his junior and senior years, the Bulldogs made it to the playoffs. He was named to the Offensive 2ndTeam as a Wide Receiver and received an Honorable Mention as a Safety his senior year. After graduation from high school, Taylor attended Little Big Horn College where he played on the Rams basketball team. He also played on independent basketball leagues and brought home many jackets and trophies from tournaments held around the country. He maintained the friendships he made on the basketball court. Taylor was employed by Black Canyon, LLC, Jackson Construction and QFM as a loader hand and pipe laborer. He received his CDL in truck driving through Little Big Horn College.
Taylor loved spending time with his family and especially loved the holidays. He planned special theme parties and would dress up as a one character and dress his little ones as other characters. One year he dressed up as Chewbacca with Austin as Ewok and Broden as Yoda from Star Wars. These times were truly special for him and his children. He loved Christmas and seeing the smiles his specially chosen gifts brought to the faces of his family members meant so much to him. He touched so many lives and was the best father, brother, cousin, nephew and son a family could ask for. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by Michael, Sidney and John Fitzpatrick, Glen and Ruby Swank, Vicki and Ada White, John Stone, Junior Ross, Harlan Reed, Sr., Lane Fitzpatrick, Ta’Shon Little Light and Rita Rios.
He is survived by his children Broden and Austin Fitzpatrick and their mother Lacey; his mother Lori (Hugh Blacksmith) Swank Fitzpatrick and his father Sheldon (Kim) Fitzpatrick; his siblings Clint (Misty), Tyson (Talisa), Tiffany, Wilbur, Marian (Mikey) and Solon Fitzpatrick, Deanna “Woody” Glenn and Kevin (Shannon) Pretty On Top; his grandparents Benito and Kathy Morrison, Ramon Pisano, Peggy White, LaVaune Fitzpatrick, Cloe Eaglefeathers and Patricia Maxwell; his aunts Carolyn Morrison, Sunshine (Rocco) Cooper, Carrie (Kevin) Old Coyote, Brianna (Kidd Russell) Fitzpatrick, Kitty Belle Deernose, Cammie Gress and Shannon (Gress) Pitsch, Ruby Zier, Stephanie (TR) Little Light, Randene Fitzpatrick and Renee Kindness; his uncles Benito Kidd (Rose) Morrison, Jr,. Sidney “Chip” (Janet) Fitzpatrick, Ryan (Sherry) Fitzpatrick, Stephen White, Ramon Rios, Lawrence Pretty Weasel and Tres Story; his beloved cousins Cayden, Tristan and Noah Redfield, Lil’ Kidd, Windsong, Skye Morrison, Brandon, Jasmyne, Jaida, Alexia and Dylan “Moose” Cooper, Brielle, Keyon and Landon Fitzpatrick, Sydney, Zena, Taya Russell, Justin Zier, Thea, Tia and Jackie Little Light, Anna and Amaya Frost and Gregory Pretty Weasel; his beloved nieces and nephews Trae, Bradley, Kayla, Brooklyn, Whitley, Clacey, Britley, Bridger, Holden, Blaize, Bear, Bo, Angel, Michael, Harlan, Julien and Cody; his adopted b rothers Burdick “Son Son” Two Leggins, Nigel Stewart, McKinley “Scooter” Spotted Bear, James Vallie and Ben Pease. The family would like to mention the Pretty Weasel, Door, Other Medicine, Pisano, Swank and Morrison families. Our family is large, if we have forgotten anyone our apologies. The family is asking for guests to not wear traditional black but wear Bulldog or Lakers colors to the service.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Hardin Fairview Cemetery. The family is asking for guest to not wear black, but to wear Bulldog or Laker colors to the service.
