On Wednesday, April 17, 2019 Frederick Voget Left Hand II (Sweet), our kind and loving son, father and grandfather was called to heaven and the other side camp.
Baabah itchichaa koosdeelaash (Walks to a Good Day) given to him by clan father the late David Jefferson. He was born on April 6, 1974 in Crow Agency to Marshall and Barbara Left Hand. He was a member of the Ties The Bundle and child of the Big Lodge. He attended Lodge Grass and Wyola public schools and graduated from St. Labre Indian Catholic School in 1992. Throughout his schooling Sweet was a social bee, he participated in basketball but ultimately, he loved being with friends and family. He started his own family at a young age and has three beautiful children, Kaitlyn, Percy and Latavia Left Hand. After high school he went on to pursue higher education at Little Big Horn College completing anAssociate’s Degree, moving on to Montana State University-Billings. Sweet was employed by the National Park Service in various locations and thoroughly enjoyed his time at Devil’s Tower, Apsaalooke Tours at the Little Big Horn Battlefield locally was another of his favorites.
Fred was always friendly and greeted you with a smile, hand shake or hug. He loved visiting and hearing old stories, he appreciated our history and would make random visits to his uncle Frederick’s to learn more. Sweet was the type of person who was always willing to take the clothes off his back and give them to someone who needed them. He was always kind to anyone he met and very welcoming. He never turned anyone down if he was able to help in some way. Fred’s family always came first. He was a very intelligent man who was always willing to expand his education and knowledge any way he could. Fred was proud of being Apsaalooke and especially being fluent in our language, he embraced our traditional value system and participated in Sundance ceremonies and sweats following in his fathers’ footsteps.
He was preceded in death by his sister Marshalena Left Hand and Phylene White Little Light; his maternal grandparents, Allen and Martha Carpenter Hunts the Arrow; his paternal grandparents Peter and Folka Bloodman Left Hand; his paternal uncles Anthony, Melvin, Ira, Eddie and Tyler Left Hand; his aunts Dollie Little Light, Elizabeth Virgina Rose and Melvina Hunts the Arrow; nephews Kirk Chief, DeAllen Little Light, Mitchell and Cory Stewart; his brother Jeremy White; his sisters Wendy Hunts the Arrow, Carletta Bravo and Heather Left Hand.
Survivors include his parents Marshall and Barbara, his children Percy, Kaitlyn and Latavia Left Hand; his grandchildren Keassa Rain Left Hand and Marshalena Mae Parra; his brother Erik Left Hand and sister Shannon Left Hand; adopted sister Eleanor Kindness; his uncles Grady (Alice) Hunts the Arrow, Frederick Lefthand; his aunts Helen Driftwood, Annabelle (Arthur) Alden, Junetta Medicine Crow, Mae Stops, Charlotte Black Elk, Lucille Other Medicine; his special cousins Pansy (Andreas) Yellow Mule, Carla Whiteman, Caroline Whiteman, Loretta Little Light, Nelvetta Little Light, Mitchaleen Stewart, Mike, Chris and Curtis Driftwood, Marilyn (Richard) Chief, Angie (Clayton) Good Luck, Johnny Stops, Geraldine Clifford, Rosalie Hunts the Arrow, Rena, Myra, Wendell, Frederica, Les, Tyler, Melanie, Kendall, Eymard and Darrell, Richard, Darnell, Famous, Pete and Rodney Left Hand, his special nieces and nephews Keanna, Kollie, Keyshawn, Kellen Rogers, Shelby, Kylee Jo and Baby Marshall Little Owl; his special friends Pastor Randy Nelson, Set Free Church and Dave Charpentier, St. Labre Staff. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday April 23, 2019 at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Lodge Grass at 1:00 pm with interment to follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery.
