Almeda Birdtail Roundstone Bearchum

Almeda Birdtail Roundstone Bearchum, born on May 3, 1939 on the Birdtail family allotment in Lodge Pole, MT, was called home on May 26, 2023, to be with our Heavenly Father, family and friends. She went peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Almeda worked all her adult life and enjoyed what she did.  She kept to herself, enjoyed a good book or movie and cooked many good meals from what was available.  She was very supportive of her children and loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  She traveled to visit her children wherever they lived and enjoyed the sites along the way. In her younger days she was called Jake, she rode with her brothers and her husband (Junior) doing ranch chores and for pleasure, she loved horses and could draw a nice-looking horse. In most of her jobs, she provided service to the public, she liked this, as she was able to visit one on one with all of the people she served from the kindegartener’s to the elderly she worked with and later her patients at the Ft. Belknap I.H.S. Dental clinic.  She finally retired when she was about 74 years old.

Almeda received her G.E.D in the late 60’s, she worked at the Busby School as a Teacher Aide and in the cafeteria, later in Great Falls she cooked at a couple restaurants and cleaned rooms.  She than became a teacher aide with Ruby Braine and Priscilla Robinson, she like to say they taught many kids to read before they left Kindergarten. In 1988, she went to school in Phoenix, AZ, attaining her certificate as a Dental Assistant.  While waiting for a dental assistant position, she was a CHR, traveling to Lodge Pole, Hays and around the Ft. Belknap agency, she enjoyed working with her relatives and patients who became her friends.

She is survived by her children Karen, Evelyn (Jim), David (Minnette), Mark (Tammy) Roundstone, Grandchildren Eleven (Gus) Lewis, Chanda Spotted Elk, Hailey (John), Carly, Kinsey, Trucke (Amber) James, Gates (Truman) Williams, Martin, Chenoa Roundstone, Isaac (Keiyanna) Manson, Brett Blackplume, Waycie, Spur, Rueben (Mary) Roundstone, Bobbi Stiffarm. Great grandchildren Justus & Tristan Lewis, Diamond & Dre Marsh, June Cochran, Sky (Shawntyana) Jackson, Gracie Littlebird, Shawna, Daniel, Jr.(Myleka), Meadow Blackwolf, Mariah (Cameron) Tendore, Kailey James, Darbi TwoMoons, Thomas, Caslyn, Brutus TwoMoons, Caydan, Lily James, Tahy, Tocali Manson. Savannah Roundstone, Maniah, Peyton, Spur,Jr., Elisha, Valkuri Roundstone, Alison, Rueben, Arianna, Martin Roundstone.  Great-great grandchildren Kailahni Fisher, K-Sean Littlebird, Camree Spotted Elk, Stormie Lovegrove-Blackwolf, Maliyah Blackwolf. Sister Doreen Birdtail. Nieces/Nephews Leon (Marjean) EagleTail, Twyla, Corinne Birdtail, Terri Birdtail-Koch, Cassandra Jackson, Shane, Swade, Rider, Alaya Small, Chauncey, Spike (Ashley) Birdtail, Charlene Birdtail-Chandler, Joyce Gone daughters and sons.  In addition, she is survived by her loving companion of 35 years Ronald Cole.

Those who went before, are her parents George, Sr. & Jenny Cliff Birdtail, daughters Justine Roundstone-Manley, Donna Roundstone-SpottedEagle, brothers George, Jr., Homer, Henry, Rueben, Wayne Birdtail, sisters Joyce Birdtail-Gone, Ophelia Birdtail-Gives, Delores & Vivian Birdtail, niece Rhonda Birdtail, Shirley Birdtail, Nephews Troy Small, Trevor Jackson. Great granddaughter Mary Cochran.

Extended family - Birdtail, Healy, Cliff, Allen, FirstChief, Stiffarm, TheBoy, LongFox, Mount, Buckman, Cauliflower, Gone and her many friends, especially Angie. We apologize for missing any families.

A wake will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 and the service on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., May 31, 2023.  Wake and service will be held at Mark Roundstone's residence at Ha-na-vuth (south land), Busby, MT.  Burial at Roundstone family cemetery, Ha-na-vuth.
