Alvin Joseph Big Man went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 15, 2026, with his mother by his side. Alvin Joe was born April 20, 1983, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Ben Big Man and Aldora Stops.
Alvin Joe was named by his aunt, Marie Rogers, which he took great pride in. His Crow name was Chili’ichiale’esash (Not afraid of anything), which was given to him by the late Lewis Little Light. He was a member of the Bad War Deeds Clan and a child of the Greasy Mouth Clan.
Alvin attended Pretty Eagle Catholic School, Hardin, Lodge Grass, and Busby High Schools. He was very artistic, learning leather work from his father, and loved to draw. You would never see him without his sketch pad and pens. Alvin also loved working with horses. He worked at AML for 2 years.
Alvin was known for his humor and was always ready to help his family and friends. He loved his nephews and nieces and was proud of all of them, but his grandkids were the joy of his life, and he bragged about them and would call to check on them daily.
Alvin is survived by his mother, Aldora; his sister, Emma; his nephews, Herc (Mya) and Houston; his nieces, Emmi (Robin) and Kai (Javen); his grandchildren, Blake, Austin, Mila, Jon, Myra, and Odessa; brothers, Garret (Amy) Stops, DJ (Sadie) Stops, Matthew Paul (Carrie) Stops, Eddie (Goldie) Gains, Wesley Stops Jr, Aaron Stops, Brandon Alden, Michael John Plenty Buffalo, Gary Plenty Buffalo Jr, Patrick Alden Jr, Alex Bird in Ground Jr, Donald Stewart Jr., Dean Good Luck Jr, Sport LaForge, Wesley Frank, Jr., and Rodney Stewart; sisters, Dorothy Renee Gains, Nita Big Man, Joselyn Big Man, Kaylene Alden, Shelly (Sheldon), Lesley, Melissa, April (Regis); Christy, Yolanda Alden, Tara White, Carylene (JD) Takes the Gun, Barbie, Olive Laforge, Dea Good Luck; uncles, William “Billy” (Berdina) Stops, Pat (Carol) Alden Sr., Leon (Mary) Alden, Aaron (Martha) Alden, Art Alden, Wesley (Twila) Frank Stewart Sr., Donald Stewart Jr., Robert (Tina) Stewart; aunts, Dorothy Mae Stops, Linda (Danny)Stops, Wyma (Richard)Little Light, Rebecca Stops, Marie (Bryan Sr) Roger’s, Colleen Black Eagle, Jana Alden, Barbra Susan Stewart, Janet Stewart, Almeda (Dean) Good Luck, Donna Dean Stewart, Sandra Grant; and grandmothers, Beverly Big Man, Dorcella Little Light.

He was proud of his heritage, and he knew and loved all his family members.
He descends from Big Man, Bear Ground, Williamson, Dust, Bad Boy, Spotted Tail, Stops at Pretty Places, Aldens, and Morrison families.
