Amelia Steinmetz, 95, of Big Timber MT passed away on Sept.3,2023 at Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber.
Amelia (Heiser) Steinmetz was born April 30,1928 in Fryburg North Dakota to Frank and Lena Heiser. She attended Fryburg High School. Amelia enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours roaming the badlands with her siblings.
Amelia moved to Hardin,MT in 1948 to work as a waitress, where she met her future husband Victor Steinmetz. They married Feb.10, 1948. They made their home in Hardin.
Over the years they had three daughters, Marjorie (Steinmetz) Haugeto, Jane (Steinmetz) Pitsch and Wanda (Steinmetz) Kukowski. Amelia had seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Amelia and Victor moved to Glendive,MT in 1975 where they made their home until they moved to Big Timber in 2005. In Glendive, they spent many hours looking for agates and going to rock and gem shows. Amelia also loved to garden, sing, and go to church.
Amelia is survived by her children Marjorie (Vince) of Colorado, Jane (Steve) of Big Timber,MT, Wanda (Greg) of Colorado, and her 7 grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Rose Heiser and her brother Robert (Pat) Heiser.
Amelia is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Lena Heiser, her husband Victor Steinmetz, her sisters Marion Machnicki, Viola Schaff, Maggie Schaaf, Eva Howard, and brother Frank Heiser.
