April Kim Venne He Crow

April “Kim” Venne-HeCrow, known by her Crow name Aamaachi’le’ Ahoosh’, meaning “Many Good Fortunes,” given to her by her clan aunt Rachel Old Horn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, of natural causes. She was born on April 7, 1968, to the late Carl Venne Sr. and Edwina Little Light-Venne.

Kim grew up in Hardin, Montana, where she attended Hardin Schools. After graduation, she pursued higher education at Rocky Mountain College for several semesters. She married Michael HeCrow Sr. in Hardin, MT. She was a proud member of the Hardin New Life Church, the River Crow District, the Greasy Mouth Clan, and a Child of Ties the Bundle.

Kim was deeply known and loved for her warmth and generosity. She opened her home to many, lovingly caring for children as her own. She had a nurturing spirit and was a guiding force in the lives of those who were blessed to know her.

Kim was preceded in death by; her husband Michael HeCrow Sr.; her father Carl Venne Sr.; her brothers Carl Venne Jr., Emery Whitehip, Barry Wall, Daryl Big Hair; her sister Roses Bulltail; her grandparents Edmund and Josephine Little Light; her aunt Patricia Little Light and grandson Solomon HeCrow.

She is survived by her children, Kasey HeCrow and Megan HeCrow; her grandchildren, Rylee and Brazen, whom she raised as her own since birth; and her mother, Edwina Little Light.  

She is also survived by a large extended family including; her sisters Mallory Venne, Zena Venne, Carrie Hugs, Christie Medicine Tail, Jordis Hugs, Leona Hugs, Tiffany (James) Demontiney, Loretta (Mike G.L.) Takes Horse, Gusena (Keven) Howe, Shelly (Darren) McDonald, Josephine Little Light, Mary (Jude) Hogan, DyAnna, Lori Three Irons, Loretta Shane, Jana Jo Alden, Letone and June Iron, Terry Little Light, Elaine and Vera Brien, Gerilyn (William) Gutierrez, Mikal Medicine Top, Amelia Wilkinson, Nelly Ann Whiteman and Clarissa Ball; her brothers Yvon (Nadia) Little Light Jr., Kidd Little Light, Devin (Joliz) Bird Hat, Kyle Little Light, Tex Little Light, Justin (Clarena) Hugs, Myron (Ivy) Little Light, Justin Olyete, Albert Rivers, Harrison Old Elk, Hartford (Angie) Bear Claw, Dean (Moana) Bear Claw, Richie Shane, Sylvester Hill, Leonard Little Light and her adopted brother Frankie Bastein.

Kim was also a mother figure to many nieces and nephews, whom she raised and loved like her own, including; Holman (Shayanna) Real Bird, Bergan (Peyton), Dixie (Mugsy), Zoey, Pace, and Dawn Real Bird, Giuseppe and Paisley,  Mckylah Sees The Ground, Eli Venne, Gregory Venne, Lindsey (Lacey) Venne, Kasey Venne, Hance and Chance Three Irons, Ote (Kaylee) Plenty Hoops, Jae, Trae, and Troy Hugs, Rio Not Afraid, Hydee, Mildus, and Marti Wilson, Marissa Hogan, Dae-Dae, Taylee, Staci, Kaci, and Ebony Evans, Tresten, Taydrian, and Camden Cole, Laila Pretty Weasel, Micah and Isaias Falls Down, Coy and Chase Brown, Samantha Pickett, Cori Fay Bulltail, Lucy Little Light, Debra and Heidi Not Afraid and Tammy Old Bull; adopted sons Harold RidesHorse, Jr., Scotty Dawes, Jonathan Hill, Maciah Not Afraid, Clay Birdinground, Clement, Bruce Other Medicine and Teagen Armajo; as well as an adopted daughter Tamera Bird Hat.

Kim was also blessed with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including; aunts Birdena Real Bird,  Lois Ann Crooked Arm, Margaret Brown, Corliss (Clinton) Iron, LaVaune Fitzpatrick, Rebecca (Mervin) White, Lovey (William) Backbone, Valencia Crooked Arm, DrewAnn Little Light, Rosella (Isaac) Shane, Linda (DeWayne) Birdinground, Rosella Bear Don’t Walk, Celeste Tobacco, Minerva Tucker, Victoria Falls Down, Kathleen Whiteclay, Vianna Stewart, Threasa Brien, Una Little Light, and Shirley Bad Bear.; uncles Curtis Little Light, Clyde Little Light, Yvon (Renae) Little Light, Bradford (Loretta) Crooked Arm, Myron (Lorenna) Crooked Arm, Cornelius (Susie) Little Light Jr., Franco Little Light; grandfather Cornelius Little Light Sr.; grandmothers Lena Little Light, EllaBeth Little Light and Janice (Leo) Hudetz.

Kim also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, including; Selah, Kade, Alaysa and Mena Venne, Kenzyn, Dylan Venne, Broden, Austyn, Auri and Gia Pretty Weasel, Kory and Kylynn Real Bird, Stocktyn and Sterling Good Luck, Mahalz and Kazzly Plentyhoops.

She was deeply loved by her in-laws; Elvina and Laura Pickett, Jamie Wilson, April Enemy Hunter and Dee Jumping Bull.

Extended families include Big Hair, Comes Up, Old Coyote, Old Horn, and Crooked Arm.
