It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bradley Fred Charles Aukon, 26, on November 14, 2024, in Crow Agency, Montana, on his sister Jennifer’s birthday. He was born on May 5, 1998, in Nome, Alaska, the son of Danny Aukon Sr. and Violet La Forge. Named after his paternal grandfather, Fred Bradley, Bradley’s life was marked by a deep sense of family, love, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
Bradley was just a child when his father, Danny Aukon Sr., passed away. He was raised by his mother, Violet La Forge, and Wayne La Forge, who became a second dad to him. This early loss, though tragic, shaped Bradley into a resilient, hardworking man with a strong sense of responsibility, particularly toward his family.
A graduate of Pine Ridge High School in South Dakota, Bradley followed in the footsteps of his late father, Danny, becoming a mechanic. His love for vehicles and his hands-on approach to life were central to his identity. Whether repairing a car or helping a neighbor in need, Bradley’s commitment to service and hard work was unwavering. He worked for the Housing Authority in Oglala, South Dakota, before returning to Crow Agency to care for his dad, Wayne. In recent years, Bradley was employed with Teepee Service in Crow Agency, where his skills and integrity were valued by his colleagues and community.
Known for his caring, loving, and humorous nature, Bradley was the cherished son of Violet La Forge and James Lee. He was a brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many, and his passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Violet La Forge, and her partner James Lee; his siblings, Donny Aukon, Wayland (Jackie) La Forge, Sarah Aukon, Helen “Luvy” Aukon, Jennifer La Forge, Danny Aukon Jr., Barbara Aukon, Brian Aukon, Duane Aukon, Tom Aukon, Renee Aukon, Danielle Aukon, and Pearl La Forge. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including his childhood best friend, D'Alan Rogers, and the Rogers family, Pastor Buddy and Marie Rogers, Jerry and Lucille Pease, and the Lawton family. His deep love for his nephews and nieces, including Ethan, Gabriel, and Jonah Pease, was one of the greatest joys of his life.
Bradley was preceded in death by his father, Danny Aukon Sr.; his stepfather, Wayne La Forge; his maternal grandparents, Edwin and Elizabeth Kotongan; his paternal grandparents, Lily Aukon, Albert and Marion Aukon, Harry and Jenny Moore, Paul and Josephine Nagaruk; as well as several other family members whose presence he will deeply miss.
A celebration of life for Bradley will be held at a later date, with details to be announced by the family. In honoring his memory, the family requests that those who knew him reflect on his kindness, his generosity, and his love for family. Bradley’s life, though far too short, was a testament to the strength of the human spirit, the importance of family, and the value of hard work and laughter.
May his soul find peace, and may his memory continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest in peace, Bradley Fred Charles Aukon. You will always be loved and never forgotten.
