Brent E. Waters, born in Shelby, MT on February 8, 1956, to Marion and Louise (Ewald) Waters, raised as an only child. It was easy for him to make friends and they became like siblings to him. Farming and ranching was Brent’s life, where he could handle difficult situations and fix the nearly unfixable. Brent graduated from Malta High School in 1975, went onto Bozeman until his dad needed help back on the farm.
Brent married Lynelle Hershman in 1978 and had two sons Koey and Klayton; they divorced in 1996. He met Mary in 1998 and they married in 2000, which brought two more boys into the family, Mike and Greg. They had 27 years of love, fun, food and travel. Brent drove truck for Redi Mix and after his parents passing Brent became part owner in the Mint Bar and landlord of the BMW Rental Apartments. The Mint Bar gave Brent the opportunity to be the gregarious guy. He was always planning and organizing dart and pool leagues and tournaments.
Brent was a Mason and a Shriner, and he joined Eastern Star, which he enjoyed sharing with Mary. He was very active with the Shrine accomplishing much for the Malta Shrine Club and Shrine Hospital for Children. Children were Brent’s focus as the grand kids started to appear. Each one was as important as the other; Ember, MJ, Roman, Sommer, Rhiannon, Scottie, and his namesake Baby Brent, which Grandpa Brent was there for his birth.
Brent was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons Klayton (Genia), Koey Waters, Mike and Greg Schultz; 7 grandchildren Ember, MJ, Roman, Sommer, Rhiannon, Scottie and Baby Brent, half siblings- discovered by Ancestry.com, Jody Kessinger being the closet of all.
Brent’s faith became stronger as his cancer spread, praying with nurses, doctors, and chaplains. Brent prayed for those he left behind. His favorite Bible verse was Mathew 7:1 “Judge not lest ye be judged”.
In Lieu of flowers, Brent would be Honored to have donations made to the local Malta Shrine Club or Algeria Temple in Helena, MT.
