Obituary

Carl William Nedens, 56, of Hardin passed away at the Billings Clinic on October 29, 2021. Carl was born September 24, 1965, in Hardin to Edward and Nancy (Wolf) Nedens. He was raised on the family farm west of Hardin and started farming at a young age. Carl attended school in Hardin and graduated from Hardin High School in 1984. After graduation, Carl attended Eastern Montana Technical College and studied mechanics for two winters after the fall harvest was completed.

Carl spent his life farming with his father and brothers and later on his nephews. Carl loved his nephews and spent countless hours teaching them how to farm and also showing them how to fix their mistakes. Carl was the first person anyone on the Nedens Farm called when they needed help, he was happiest when he could come to the rescue. Carl also had several hobbies. He loved fishing and hunting and was always looking for a new recruit to take along on his adventures. Carl also loved collecting tools and tinkering on small engines.

After being a bachelor for many years, Carl wept tears of joy as he married the love of his life, Cheryl Big Day, on September 1, 2011. Every year on their anniversary Cheryl would prepare a full meal and bring it out to the field complete with a table and flowers. They were truly happy and complimented each other fully. The couple made their home on the family farm west of Hardin. Carl and Cheryl went on many adventures including a Caribbean cruise and to see Cheryl’s favorite NFL football team, the New York Giants. Carl and Cheryl also enjoyed many days on Yellowtail Lake and took many friends and family members with them. Carl tragically lost his wife Cheryl in January of 2021 and was truly heartbroken.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl; parents Ed and Nancy Nedens and brothers Roger and Gary Allen Nedens. Carl was also preceded in death by his wife Cheryl’s children Jeremy Eastman and Heather Eastman. Carl is survived by his sister Karen (Dennis) Teichroew; brother Shawn (Joanne) Nedens; sister-in-law Gayle Nedens; his nephews Brett (Holly), Mike (Courtney), Chris (Jessica), Kyle and Dalton; his nieces Leigh Ann (Mario), Maria (Tony), Mylinda (Roy) and Birdie. Carl was especially fond of his great nephew Keldon, who was name Keldon Carl after him.

Carl was always quick to strike up a conversation. Whether it was a completer stranger or a longtime friend or relative, Carl would drop whatever he was doing to discuss the current events going on in his life. Carl never wasted time degrading people of gossiping. He chose to see the best traits in everyone he met and considered them all lifelong friends.
