Dale Reuben Schaak of St. Xavier
November 7, 1942 – October 14, 2023
Dale spent his entire life working at everything from riding horses, sugar beet farming, truck hauling, branding cattle, combining, building log homes, transplanting trees, bartending, welding railcars for Burlington Northern, and serving as a maintenance man at Rocky Mountain College. As Dale would say “I’ve done everything but drive a cab”. Dale and Maureen finally settled down as the care takers of the Wolf Ranch in 2007. They would settle into ranching, tending to cattle, and farming hay in the summer and fall. Ranch life was all he ever wanted.
Dale had many hobbies making one-of-a-kind spurs and bits and working decorative patterns into leather for beautiful wallets and belts.
Survivors include his brother Duane E. “Slim” Schaak (Judy) Hysham; sister Betty J. Wheeler (Francis) Billings; children Jeffrey D. Schaak (Michelle) Billings; Melanie Williams (Larry) Texas; Cami Adams (Stephen) Texas; Lisa M. Cremer (Clint) Absarorkee; Justin D. Schaak (Spring) Billings; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dale is preceded in death by wife Maureen Cremer-Schaak, Father Reuben Schaak, and Mother Catherine Schaak.
Dale passing is deeply mourned by his family, and he will be enormously missed by his many friends. Goodbye for now, Dad, we love you.
