Dennis Bastien, Sr. Obituary

Dennis Lee Bastien, Sr., was born on November 20, 1945, to Rose Marie Blackhawk and Jack Bastien. Dennis attended Wyola Public School and Lodge Grass High School. He later received his GED and attended Sheridan Junior College and United Tribes in Bismarck, North Dakota. His places of employment were the Crow Tribe and the Thunder Child Treatment Center.

Dennis participated in the Sundance and enjoyed playing hand games. He was a skilled and accurate guesser, being the first to guess four in a row. Dennis was also an arrow thrower and coached the Mighty Few junior arrow throwers, who were champions a number of times. He enjoyed playing guitar in his spare time.

Dennis was a humble man and lived a simple lifestyle. He was not a bragger and was a very private man.

Dennis is survived by his sons, Frank Bastien and Tiger Bastien; grandchildren, Wyatt (Tristy), Biaitché, Harly (Taylan), Daniel, Vinaya, Kylei, Levi (Tamya), Zaylee, and Teagan Bastien; great-grandchildren, Ah’Marie, Koyleigh, Willow, Esther, and Tayanna Bastien, Selmada and Fabian Moreno, and Xaevyn Big Hair; brothers and sisters, Dwight (Marlene), Lemuel Stewart, Gordon Realbird, Jacquelyn Stewart, Anda (Henry) Pretty On Top, Kenneth Spotted, Virginia Realbird, Rhonda, Maxine, Virginia, Janet, Lynette, Betty, Lanna, and Mary Bastien; and best friend Marshall Lefthand.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harley and Marshall Bastien, Gerard, Raymond, and Roy Stewart, and daughter Valerie Red Wolf.

Extended family includes Otter, Brass, Yellowmule, Half, Red Wolf, Iron, Black Eagle, House, Morning, Black Hawk, Fallsdown, Plainfeather, DeCrane, Birdhat, Bulltail, and his Bastien family of Alberta, Canada.

The care given to him while at Awa Kualawaache is very much appreciated. A special thanks to CNA Trinity Lefthand. Thank you, Janice Wilson and Claudett Black Hawk, for checking on him periodically, and thank you, Joseph Stewart, for your regular visits.

If we have forgotten anyone, forgive us; it was not intentional.
