Desirae Doreen Old Elk

Desirae Doreen Old Elk, 43, of Billings, Montana passed to the other side camp on Friday, January 17, 2025.  Desirae was born to Daniel Old Elk, Jr. and the late Edwina Don’t Mix on February 18, 1981.  She was raised in Lodge Grass  by both her parents and her grandparents.  She was a member of the Piegan Clan and child of Ties A Bundle. Desirae was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church.  Her godparents are Michael and Denise Stops.

Desirae graduated from Lodge Grass High School in 1999 and obtained her Associate Degree in Business and Information Tech and graduated in 2010 at Little Big Horn College.  Her longest career was at Little Big Horn Casino as a slot technician, poker dealer and cashier handling very large amounts.  She had many skills and trades like contracting and schooling to be a dental assistant, CPR, First Aid and Food Handlers.

Desirae is preceded in death by her mother, Edwina Don’t Mix; sister Danetta Old Elk; paternal grandparents, Daniel Old Elk, Sr. and Rosebud Bull Tail; maternal grandparents, Ivan Don’t Mix, Sr. and Nadine Old Bull; her uncles, Donald Old Elk, Myron,  Edgar, Greg and Elvis Old Bull; and her aunts, Evelyn Deann Old Elk and Kathleen Don’t Mix.

She is survived by her father Daniel, her children, Donna Colleen Old Elk, Tyril (ReShawn) Old Bull, DeAndrey (Iryjah) Bear Below and Tyra Old Bull; her grandchildren, TyShawn and Ivan Old Bull, Inyrah Bear Below; her brothers, Elery (Mary Rochelle) Crooked Arm, Dean (Sonya) and Shay (Jessica) Don’t Mix; her sisters, Dusty (Tilavester) Old Elk and Tawnya (Johnny) Old Coyote, Sr.; all her nephews and nieces; her uncles, Dominic (Nancy) Old Elk, Blaine Bulltail, David (Susan) Devereaux and Jonathan (Susan) Old Elk, Ivan Don’t Mix, Ben Gros Ventre, Buster Gardner, Darrin (Bobbi Jo) and Jay (Misty) Old Coyote, Curtis Old Bull, Woodrow (Gladys) Brien, Bernard and William (Jayne) Jefferson, Colby Gros Ventre and Zachary Bird Faraway; her aunts, Donna (Mike) Yazzie, Denise (Michael) Stops, Delora Old Elk, Renee (Lance) Crooked Arm, Neta (Lance) Sigismon, Cheryl Jefferson, Sarah (Dennis) Steffan, Ethel, Reva and Tina Gardner, Wowie (George) Little Wolf, Georgiann (Tony) Pisano, Lavina Old Bull, Beth (Calvin) Brush, Beth (Earl) Old Chief, Mary Big Day, Mari (Art) Plenty Hawk, Bernadine (Daryl) Grant, Nancy (Devin Spotted Horse) Jefferson, Misty Bird Faraway, RaeDawn Wallace and Shawna (Verdell) Collins; grandparents, Mary Helen (Alex) Medicine Horse, Russel Wallace, Regina and Myra Jean Gros Ventre, Honey Bun (Curtis) Medicine Horse, Mavis (Maurice) Mountain Sheep, Roxanne (Dexter) Falls Down, Lauren (Scott) Medicine Horse, Clarice (Ronnie) Medicine Crow, Clarice and Fatima Bad Horse. Extended families include Old Elk, Old Bull, Bulltail, Don’t Mix, Birdinground, Covers Up, Hunts the Arrow, Real Bird, Moccasin, Good Luck, Blaines, Gros Ventre, Plentyhawk and Deputy, descendants of Goes Well, Striped Dog, Curly, Old Man Eagle, Onion (Chief Child) and descendants of Chief Pretty Eagle.  Our family is large, please forgive us if we forgot any names in our time of grief.
