Donald Grover Pretty On Top Deputee, 66, passed away on April 22, 2026, surrounded by his family. Grover was born on January 14, 1960, to Beverly Pretty On Top and the late Thomas Pretty On Top Sr, and the late Paul (Skippy) Deputee. Grover is from Greasy Mouth Clan and a child of Greasy Mouth. He was a lifelong member of the Four-Square Church and respected his traditional faith beliefs in the sweat lodge.
Grover will be remembered for his lighthearted, goofy personality that brought laughter to those around him. He carried strong and steady faith in the Lord, which guided his life with strength and purpose. Grover had a deep love for running, finding both peace and joy in each stride, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family. He lived as a humble, thoughtful man—one who listened, cared deeply, and gave generously of himself.
Grover married the love of his life, Christy, in 1986, and from this union were blessed with three children whom they love dearly. Grover supported all his children’s, nieces’, nephews’, and grandchildren's endeavors with unwavering pride. If you ever looked to see who was cheering you on, it was Grover—always present, always encouraging, and never failing to let you know how proud he was. He cherished his grandchildren deeply, and they, in return, adored him beyond measure. Grover took Angelina and raised her as his own. He cherished his relationship with her, her being his first and oldest grandchild.
Grover attended first through fifth grade in Crow Agency public school, sixth through eighth grade at Kingsman School, Flandrau Indian Boarding School, and in Bismarck, ND. Grover worked for the Crow Tribe and was known to be a reliable and honest worker. He was an avid runner, most often taking first place. Each year, his family would gather at camp to watch Grover run by and cheer him on during the annual Teepee Creeper Run. He made many great friends throughout his running career. Grover was a 49ers fan, and he enjoyed teasing his siblings, Kenny, Shawn and Norma, about who supported the better football team.
