Doreen Stewart Obituary

Doreen Fredricka Stewart, 60, of Dunmore, MT born April 2, 1964 to James White, Jr. and Annabelle Hunts the Arrow in Crow Agency, MT went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2025 in Billings, MT.  Her Crow name was Xáxxe Pa’chko (Cuts The Painted Horse) and she was a member of the Ties the Bundle Clan and a child of the Ties the Bundle Clan. 

She attended Lodge Grass High School where she was notice for her basketball abilities and was considered an all star. She was always the top scorer on her team. She loved playing sports and was very athletic in her younger years. Doreen grew up in Lodge Grass, Garry Owen and Pryor while she was young. She was noticed for her curly hair when she was a baby.

In the year of 1987 she met the love of her life Grant Stewart and was married the year of 1988. Her and Grant then made their home in Bozeman, MT where she worked as a housekeeper and a full time mother. In the year 2003 her and Grant had moved back to Crow and made a family home in Dunmore, MT where she spent the rest of her life living. She was employed at Crow Agency Public School as a substitute teacher for several years. She then became a full time homemaker and spending all of her time beading, sewing, dress making, Indian regalia, arts and crafts. She was very creative. She also was a big supporter of her younger brother Jeremy in Handgames and she always enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids play Handgames, pow-wow dancing and tik-tok dancing. She loved spending time with family, hunting and fishing with her dad, camping at the Big Horn and Wolf Mountains, and riding horses. She was a very compassionate and humble person. She always cared for everyone and made sure she never left anyone out. 

Doreen was a loving grandma and was very proud to have 20 grand children and 4 great grandchildren, 10 grand kids she raised on her own.

Doreen is preceded in death by her father James White Jr., her mother Christine Stewart; sisters Sarah Young Running Crane, Phalene White, Verlynn Stands, Cecelia Mae Stands, Marshalena Left Hand and Wendy Hunts the Arrow; brothers James White III, Jermey White, Archie Jefferson, Woody and Lyndon White, Ray Scott Stands, and Grady Hunts Arrow Jr.; aunts Mary Lou Big Day, Patsy Stands, Elizabeth Medicine Horse, Norma Stops, Junetta Medicine Crow, Dolly Hunts Arrow and Elizabeth White; nephews Thomas Young Running Craine, Kirk Chief, DeAllen Little Light; daughter Christian Stewart; nieces Crystal Young Running Crane, Stella Walks, and Clarissa Jefferson; grandchildren Arturo Walks, Kurtlynn Iron, and Eljay Young Running Crane; grandmothers Sarah Hawk White and Martha Carpenter; grandfathers James White Sr. and Allen Hunts Arrow; great grandparents Frank Hawk and Dora Travels Wellknown Hawk.

Survivors include her husband Grant Stewart; sons Ramone White and Grant Stewart; daughters Nicole Bear Claw, Arthetta (Buddy), Pebbles (Van), Fontana and Kataleyah Stewart, and Taina (Kebo) Young Running Crane; adopted daughters Anne Morgan Flash and Charissa Hogan; best friend Melissa Jackson; her mother Annabelle Hunts Arrow; sisters Marilyn (Richard) Chief, Nadia Bad Bear, Roberta (Alfred) Walks, Carla and Carolyn Whiteman, Shannon Left Hand, Pansy (Sonny) Yellowmule, Aldora Takes Enemy, Tamara and Jessica Old Bear and Dora (Dwayne) Costa; brothers Bruce (Jennifer) White Jr., Scott (Lauren) Medicine Horse, Derek, Jace, William and Heywood III BigDay, Garrett and Michael Stewart, Jay Young Running Crane, Johnny Stops, Delvin Medicine Crow, Erick Left Hand, Albert (Leslie), Angelo, and Spencer Takes Enemy and Marlin Cloud; uncles Bruce White Sr., Grady (Alice) Hunts Arrow Sr., and Vincent Black Hawk; aunts Claudette Black Hawk, Dorma (Allert) Takes Enemy, Elna Black Hawk, Barbara Covers Up, Barbara (Marshal) Left Hand, Rosaline Driftwood; nephews Bartholomew (Tinaya) and Richard Chief, Traylynd, Avery, Zack, Colt and James White, Benjamin Cummins, Lance Yellowmule, Nicholas Jefferson, Addikin Stewart, Jordan and Quintin Gets Down; nieces Sarah (Frank) Cottier, Gaberielle Chief, Sheena (Frank) Yellowtail, Nora Walks, Nadia (JR) Little Light, Jasmine reed, Jomiah and Cheshire White, Stephanie and Clarice Jefferson, Christina (Garrett) Costa, Holly, Terri, Roberta and Chrystal Stewart and Kathy Walker.

Descendant of Dora Travels Well-Known and Frank Hawk, Children of Gretchen Bull Weasel - Nomee, Edgar Hawk, Lugenia Hawk - Blackhawk, Elizabeth Smart Enemy, Kelly, White, Beaumont, Watts, White Clay and Hunts Arrow.

The family would like to thank that St. Vincents ICU nurses and Doctors for caring for Doreen during her hospital stay.
