Ervin George Jefferson, 61, of Wyola passed away in the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming on June 27, 2021. He as born April 30, 1960 in Crow Agency the son of Lester Jefferson, Jr. and Leona Walks-Phares. His Indian name Deedeax kaashé ( Golden Eagle) given to him by Melvin Left Hand. He was a member of the Big Lodge Clan and a child of the Ties the Bundle Clan. He was raised in the Crow Agency and Lodge Grass areas.
He attended school in Lodge Grass and the Kicking Horse Job Corps in Ronan. He received his GED through the Adult Education Program in Billings. Ervin was a fire fighter with the BIA Forestry Department, worked in various positions with the Crow Tribe. Ervin worked construction in Wyoming and also was employed with several security firms. Ervin enjoyed outdoor activities. He loved having his family with him on camping trips. He especially liked to hunt and fish. Ervin was an adventurous kind of guy who loved Bruce Lee and Elvis Presley. He thought of himself as a “karate chopping dude” and even starred in the film “Bright Angel” filmed in Billings. This was one of the highlights of his life.
Ervin is preceded in death by his father, Lester Jefferson, Jr. his mother Leona Walks-Phares; his brothers Truman, Harold and Coolidge Jefferson and his sister Susan Jefferson.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Jefferson; his daughter Tina (Ashley) Jefferson-Perry, a step-daughter Olive Crooked Arm; granddaughter Meason Jefferson-Perry; his sisters Trudy McConnell, Theda Ramsey, Mary (Gary) Whiteman, Tina LaHaye-Fighter, Valerie and Alberta Iron, Tina (Comrad) Alden and numerous siblings, nephews and nieces. Our family is large and we ask your forgiveness if you have not been listed please accept our apology in our time of grief.
The funeral services was held Friday July 2, 2021 at the Bullis Funeral Chapel in Hardin, Montana with interment to follow at the Lodge Grass Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.
