Lloyd Eugene Smith or Gene, as he was affectionately known as, passed away on January 12, 2025. He was born January 3, 1972 to the late Edward Benevick Red Wolf, Jr. and the late Rozalia Yarlott. He was adopted by the late Gene Smith and Alice Red Wolf Smith.
Gene was an outdoorsman who especially loved to fish. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was the most humble person. He was always so kind hearted and goofy and never had time for negativity. Gene enjoyed watching movies and spending time with family. He would tell his momma Alice, “I Love you”, every day. He was always in a happy mood never a dull moment with him. Everyone enjoyed it when he was around, always brought smiles to their faces when he walked in the door.
Gene married Angelique Bear Below and they made their home in Lodge Grass, MT. After her death, he moved back to Texas and worked at Radio Shack. When he was in Oklahoma, he worked for the Choctaw Nation. After a few years, he moved to Poplar, MT with his brother Ben and worked at various places. Later moving to Billings and worked at Crow Tribal Housing Authority.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life Misty Michelle Mitchell, his brothers Edward Benevict Red Wolf, III and Franklin “Tee” Red Wolf; his grandparents Edward and Juanita Laforge Red Wolf, Sr., Eugene and Maude Morrison Yarlott; uncles Mike, Gerald, Norman, Ennis, Franklin, Gordon Red Wolf, Charles Yarlott, Sr., and Paul (Roberta) Spotted Horse Jr.; aunts Gloria Pretty Weasel, Cheryl Red Wolf, Mary (Tom) Bonko, Charlotte (Paul) Spotted Horse, Linda (Tyrone) Ten Bear, Victoria (Wesley) Crooked Arm, Elsie (Buster) Leider, Sr., Olive Yarlott and Dorris Old Coyote, and a nephew Diego Limpy.
He is survived by his children Bradley, Edward, Wickson, Eugene, Jr., Angel (Bradly Chandler), and Tevan Smith; brothers Michael Smith, Roger and Michael Red Wolf, Isaac (Polly) Yarlott, Garrett, Jr., Addikin and Joseph Stewart, Minrod Blackhawk RC, and Richard Old Coyote; sisters Anita Stewart, Christina (Garrett) Costa, Terri, Holly Stewart, Shawna, Dawn Blackhawk, stepfather Garrett Stewart, Sr.; aunts Rosalia Covington, Betty Blackrock, Angela Stewart, Delmyrna and Tina Yarlott, Marcia (Benito) Brown, Tori (Oliver) Half, and Geneva Walks Over Ice; uncles Joseph Stewart, Alvin (Lucille) and Aaron (Mary) Yarlott, Sr., great grandmother Delma Yarlott; grandchildren Zeckias Gordon Benevict Smith, Amara, Braxton, Cadence, Ethan, and Felix Wickson, Zorryama, and Berva Chandler and one great-grandchild Izaiah Rhymes. He was very close to his nephews and nieces Santana (Mikee), Annalicia (Precious), Mia, and Shaydon Smith, Ashley, Elisha, Krysta, and Lilman (Marmie) Plenty Hawk, Benicia (Trampus), and Ronee (Shauntay) Bulltail.
Extended family includes Red Wolf, Laforge, Bouyer, Yarlott, Morrison, and Old Bear.
