It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Franklin Grant Rowland of Lodge Grass Creek (No Water), who died at age 37 on January 21, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love and kindness. Baatchaaxxioush, (Surrounded) was born on September 3, 1987, in Sheridan, WY, the son of Franklin and Joanie Rowland. He was a member of the Whistling Water Clan and a child of the Greasy Mouth. He grew up in the Lodge Grass area along Lodge Grass Creek. Frank was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church and served as an alter boy in his youth. He received his education in Wyola and Lodge Grass Schools. He continued his education at Little Big Horn College. Frank worked for Ursa Major Oil Company as a crew boss and as a ranch hand for the Murdock Family. He was currently a Laborer at the Apsaalooke Nation Housing Authority.
Frank loved working at the Horn family ranch year round. He always helped out with all the ranch duties when needed. Frank loved horses so much when he was a young boy that he saved all his percaps to purchase his own horse. He inherited his quiet demeanor and sense of humor from his late Grandpa Forest Horn.
He doted on his nieces and nephews and would do anything they wanted or needed. You would often find him with Bruce or Marcus hanging out enjoying each other’s company. Frank loved to help take care of them. He would help them with their homework or take them out to ride horses. He was the best uncle. Frankie’s good humor and generous spirit touched everyone he met.
