Our beloved uncle, brother, grandfather, and friend was called home by our Heavenly Father on September 14, 2025. As the sun was rising, Gary began his final journey.
Gary Dennis Lefthand, age 67, was a member of the Big Lodge Clan and a Child of the Big Lodge Clan. He was born on July 18, 1958, in Billings, Montana, to Anna Jean Stands Overbull and Tyler Lefthand. The youngest of five boys, Gary faced many health challenges starting at the age of two. Through every struggle and battle, Gary remained a true fighter with a heart full of love.
Gary was known for his favorite foods—pizza, pop, and Taco Bell, which his brother Eymard first introduced him to. If given the choice, he would have enjoyed them every day. As a young boy, Gary loved to sing “Do Lord” while playing his guitar, always wearing his hat and western shirt. He also had a lifelong love for action figures, especially Batman, who remained his favorite until his last breath.
Gary’s faith was central to his life. His mother, Geno, made sure her children knew about Jesus and how to pray. Gary carried this faith with him always, pointing to heaven when asked where his brothers had gone. He loved Jesus wholeheartedly and trusted Him deeply. Gary’s circle of trust was small, but when he let you in, his love was fierce and true.
Gary received his elementary education at St. Charles Mission, Pryor Public School, and Billings Schools. He was a member of Souls Harbor Church in Pryor. Gary’s mother cared for him as long as she could, and his family always protected him with love.
To those who knew him best, Gary taught the gift of love and compassion. He showed patience, joy, and how to truly live in the moment. With a heart of gold, Gary gave love freely and deeply in a world that did not always understand him.
