Ida (Lydia) Marie Ramirez Chavez was born October 29th, 1942 in Lovell, Wyoming. She was the oldest of 13 children. Her family moved to Hardin, Montana, when she was a young girl. It was in Hardin she met her husband, Albert Chavez, in 1957. They were married a year later- September 10, 1958. Together they had 8 children: Jenny, Freida, Margret, Judy, Julia, Eddie, Carol, and Evelyn. Ida’s family moved from Montana to Oregon in 1972 to pursue a farming career. They moved back to Hardin in 1983 to be closer to family. Ida took a job at Big Horn County Hospital as a Nurses Aid and eventually worked as a custodian. She retired from the hospital after 25 years of service. Ida bought her first home in Hardin on Chouteau Ave in 1995, just a year before her husband, Albert, passed away in June of 1996. Ida had a deep relationship with Jesus, and spent much of her time praying for her family, and encouraging them to make Jesus a part of their life. Ida’s greatest joys were reading God's Word, being a mother and grandmother, listening to music, dancing, cooking, and crocheting. Everyone who met Ida was blessed by her and her kindness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juanita Contreraz Ramirez and Gene Ramirez, her husband, Albert Chavez, her children, Jenny Chavez and Eddie Chavez, her brother, Bobby Ramirez, and Son in-laws, Aubrey Schneider and John Porter. She is survived by 6 daughters: Freida (Doug) Seader, Margret (David) Schoenenberger, Judy Schneider, Julia Price, Carol (Tim) Landry, and Eveyln Chavez, as well as her 8 sisters, 4 brothers, 14 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren (and counting).
