Jalen Henry Pretty On Top

Lost our dad, brother, uncle, son, and friend,

Jalen Henry Prettyontop, 42, of Crow Agency, a son of the late Bruce and Carlene Birdinground-Prettyontop. He’s a member of Whistling Water and was a Big Lodge child. His crow name was Handsome Fox. He grew up in Garryowen, Crow and Billings Montana. He attended Pretty Eagle Catholic School and then he attended St. Charles, and then graduated from Billings Central High School in 2000. He attended Great Falls and Little Big Horn College and earned his Associates Degree in Information Technology System.

In his later years he made his home in Two Leggings and later moved to Billings, MT and later returned to Crow Agency, MT.

His first job was at Little Big Horn College, and then HDR in Billings, he taught a computer class at the Crow School, his IT career ended at Little Big Horn College. He enjoyed writing for the sports section in the Big Horn County News and he also enjoyed coaching his daughter’s basketball travel team. He was known for playing basketball and he was also a good cross country runner for billings central high school. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He’s remembered being humble, soft spoken, he always loved to laugh, loved a good conversation, and he liked to tell funny stories. He was very proud of his twin sisters and always supported their sporting events and also was very proud of his children.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Carlene Prettyontop, grandparents; Buckley (Aline) Prettyontop, and Andrew and Inez Birdinground, Elenor, Albert, Evelyn, Linda, Ernestine Birdinground, Andrew Russell and Hannah Pretty On Top, Ursula Bad Horse, his grandmas and grandpas and great grandparents; Mrytle, Annett, Rosane, George, and Anthony, Harlen Reed, and adopted mother Carla Monroy, adopted grandmother Victoria Brown, uncle Jude Old Crow, and brother Brian Old Crow.
