Jocelyn attended grade school in Crow Agency, MT. then went on to Flandreau South Dakota to finish her high school education. Jocelyn then moved back to Montana to attend Eastern Montana College in Billings, where she obtained her associate degree in business administration.
Jocelyn truly lived up to her Indian name by always going out of her way to help those that couldn’t help themselves. Her very presence in any situation or room was a reason for those around to stop, look up, and pay attention to what she had to say. She never held back on her thoughts and opinions and made sure those that, she felt had to hear her, would! Jocelyn represented her family and tribe with class, style and etiquette. Her involvement in tribal politics was very well known, she was the first woman to run as a candidate for Vice Secretary of the Crow Tribe paving the way for other woman to step forward and use their voices to obtain change within our tribal laws. She also assisted her brother “Lucky” when he was general manager of Crow Fair but the following year was elected as Rodeo manager. Jocelyn was always on the move traveling to many places across the US meeting various movie stars and political leaders including President Ronald Reagan. She was business savvy and truly an entrepreneur!
Many other of her family’s ties include Moccasin Top’s, Real Birds, Bull Weasel, Nomee, Little Lights, Bull Horse’s, Comes Up, Driftwood, Knows His Gun, Bear Cloud, and Pretty Eagle decedents, Round Face, Big Lake, Hawk, Stops, Takes the Enemies and Jefferson.
Jocelyn was one of the most beautiful, classiest ladies you would have ever met. She never turned a blind eye to anyone who needed help, she always made sure that everyone was taken care of and loved, she will be very missed by everybody.
