June passed away on January 6, 2026. She was born on June 7, 1946, to George Hatten and Elizabeth Two Belly in Crow Agency, MT.
She grew up in the St. Xavier area (Mission 40) and attended boarding school there as well. The family moved to South Dakota and lived in St. Francis, South Dakota, to be near grandpa Man Hatten. The family moved to the Crow Agency area, where she eventually adventured out on her own. She had plenty of life experiences along the way. She lived in various places as an adult, such as Hardin, Rapid City, South Dakota, and San Jose, California. She met Joe Six Toes (RIP) in California and moved to White River, South Dakota. Although White River was her home, she has a special place in her heart for family and friends who resided in and around Crow. She married her lifelong friend, Jose Armijo, and continued to reside in White River, raising Treyton.
June is preceded in death by her beloved parents, George and Elizabeth, daughter Vanessa, sisters Honey Girl Hatten and Renae Hatten, and brother Teddy Hatten. Also, all of her grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Survivors include her husband Jose aka Jerry Armijo, grandson Treyton Six Toes-Armijo, and son Johnny Adams. Sisters Melody Hatten, Trudy Hatten, Regina Falls Down, Lucille Yarlott, Twila Grant, Lena Brown. Brother Willy Brown, Benito Brown, and Gary Big Hair. Adopted Daughter Cynthia Jones, sister-in-Law Florence Hatten, and grandchild Liza Cloud.
June was a hard-working woman. She was employed at the White River Care Center for the past 33 years. She began as a Nurses Aid and became certified. She then trained new CNAs during her career. Later, after her dedicated years as a CNA, she transitioned into the Hospitality Department, working as a Laundry Aide for the past 4 years. She loved the residents, and special bonds were made during her time there.
June was a caring and loving person, always wanting to make everyone feel welcome and at home in her presence. She was a good cook. She is loved by many, and she will be missed dearly.
June was a direct descendant of Chief Two Belly of Lower Big Horn and Chief Kennewash of the Rocky Boy area. She was also proud of her Sioux and Irish heritage.
June has many family members from the Rocky Boy, Crow, South Dakota, and the Wind River areas. Please do not feel offended if you are not listed. She loved you all.
Special recognition to Tesha Ryan and her son Bently, of whom June grew fond of, and her good friend Darlene Baca for her care and friendship.
As Smokey Robinson sang….”I’m really gonna miss you; it’s really gonna be different without you. Time is gonna be hard and slow. For the rest of our lives, we are going to be thinking about you.”
LOVE YOU JUNE!
