Kathy Kay Leider

Kathy Kay Leider, passed away on April 21, 2023, surrounded by her family.  She was born on September 17, 1962 in Crow Agency, Montana to Carl and Daisy (Anderson) Leider. Her dad gave her the nickname “Red Woman” because of her red hair.

Kathy attended school at Roper High Mormon Placement School, Flandreau High School and Culinary school.  She was a wildland firefighter crew boss and worked as an CNA.   Kathy was known for her pineapple upside down cakes, made amazing graduation cakes and she loved cooking meals for her grandchildren, family and friends.  What she loved most was her grandchildren and they were her life and everything.

Kathy is preceded in death by her son Buster “Muskie” Gardner, Jr., her parents, her siblings Alda and Marlon Big Day, Irma Lion Shows, Laberta Stewart, Henry Rondeau, Woodrow, Iran Joe and Maudine Stewart and Verna Mae Bad Boy.

She is survived by her children Joseph Dust, Woodrow Pylza Leider, Amanda and Miranda Gardner,  27 grandchildren and one great grandchild, her companion Buster Gardner, Sr.; her siblings Willie Stewart, Carmelia Brown, Ralph Brown, Jr., Violet Wolf Black, Wilma Wallace, Joe (Rachel) Wallace, Henry Charles Jefferson, Dennis Bull Tail, Betty Jo Morrison, Calvin Leider, Jr., Cyrus Leider, Rebecca Anderson, William, Jr., Martha and Della Dust, Jackie Yellowtail, Ann Martin, Leslie, Valerie, Tracy and Frank Jackson, David Small, Lloyd and Val Hogan, Thomasine Birdinground, Valerie Iron, Orrin and Evelyn Anderson and Renee Bird Hat; her uncles and aunties Buster Leider, Harriet Leider, Connie Jackson, Trosen Big Hair, Thelma Holds, Dennis and Nora Big Hair.

Extended families include, Anderson, Leider, Yellowtail, Takes Horse Tobacco, Big Hair, White Clay, White Fox, Froz, Real Bird, Moccasin,  Holds, Bends, Whiteman Runs Him, Blanket Bull, McKinley, Jr., Faron (Rose), Clinton (Corliss), Valerie and Alberta Iron, Tina (Comrad) Alden, Plays, Mable Pretty on Top family, Moccasin Top, Rises Up, Left Hand family of Alberta, Canada and Washakie family of Ft.
