LaVonne Spotted Horse, 78, of Wyola, Montana left us on June 17th, 2024 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Biiakaataah (Good Young Woman) was born in July 13th, 1945 in Crow Agency, MT to Louis “Tex” and Alice Good Luck Sr. She was the third born daughter of eight children. LaVonne grew up in Wyola, Montana and spent her childhood riding horses and tending to cows with her dad at the Good Luck Ranch. She was a good horse back rider in her youth. LaVonne graduated from Lodge Grass High School and later attended Business college in Billings earning a certificate. She began her career working for the Crow Tribe, Bureau of Indian Affairs and retired from the Indian Health Service in 2016.
LaVonne married Stanley Spotted Horse and to this union had Angela Ruth Spotted Horse Bear Claw and Rueben Dean Spotted Horse. Following Crow custom, Angie was raised by Tex and Alice in Wyola. LaVonne and Stanley made their home in Rotten Grass until Stanley’s untimely passing. LaVonne then settled in Wyola where she raised her children and grandchildren.
LaVonne was a member of the Pentecostal Church, Ties the Bundle clan and a child of the Piegan Clan. She loved the Lord dearly regularly attending El Shaddai in Wyola and Spirit of Life Four Square church in Crow Agency, MT. She also attended evangelistic church conferences in Colorado, Tennessee, Ohio and many other numerous states. She will be remembered as a devout and loving Christian.
LaVonne is preceded in death by her parents; son Rueben; great-grandchild Hera Bear Claw; siblings Aneda Hill, Joyce and Andrea Good Luck, Louis Good Luck Jr, Gary, Clinton and Johnny Lee Good Luck; nieces Lona Lee Fritzler, Phyllis, and Leitha Spotted Horse, and Marilyn Stewart; nephews Gary Joel Good Luck, Paul Spotted Horse Jr. and Kerry Stewart; uncles Wallace, Theodore, and Frank Iron, Leo, Ralph Pete, and Aloysius Good Luck Srs., Henry Bright Wings Sr., Clive and Victor Dust, Trask Little Light Jr.; aunts Stella Whiteman, Ruby Goes Ahead, Iris Three Irons, Julia Black Eagle, Leona Little Light-Morning, Edna and Martha Dust, Pauline Crooked Face.
Survivors include her sister Alda Good Luck, sister/daughter Angela (Hartford) Bear Claw; Daughter Meigha (Merlyn) Tsosie; son Seth (Trenay) Spotted Horse; grandchildren David (Cammie) Old Chief Sr., Corey Bear Claw, Israel (Hope), November Rain and Alice Spotted Horse, Axxaashe Bear Claw, Cerissa Stewart, Janelle and James Day Child; great-grandchildren Nakia and Keyonna Spotted Horse, David Jr., and Kamree Old Chief, Athena, Ares, and Hyrum Bear Claw, Ryan, Justin, Phil, Josiah, and Steve Cole, Brady and Lilly Spotted Horse; three great-great-grandchildren Addilyn, Vaylan and Vaylah Spotted Horse; her cousins from the Iron, Three Irons, Goes Ahead, Blacksmith, Whiteman, Good Luck, Black Eagle, Bright Wings, Dust, Morning, and Little Owl families that she took as her siblings; nieces Verly Hill, Missy (Randy) Falls Down, Robyn (Vance) Crooked Arm, Audrie, Raven, and Rosslyn Good Luck, Vonna (Adlai Jr.) Falls Down, Kaitlyn (Gregg) Sloan, Paulette (Terry) Birdinground, Caroline Pretty Weasel, Deloria Spotted Horse, Natalie Cauliflower; nephews Kolan Good Luck, Elvin (Cassie) and Darren Fritzler, Leroy Stewart, Oliver and Mark Spotted Horse, Crow Tribal Chairman Frank (Jade) White Clay, Jay and Darren Old Coyote, and Dean Don’t Mix; numerous traditional nieces, nephews, and grandchildren too numerous to name. LaVonne’s family is large, so we apologize if we have missed anyone in our time of grief. Her extended family includes the Good Luck, Little Owl, Coversup, Bright Wings, Iron, Leider, Walks Over Ice, Sits Down Spotted, Brass, Otter Stays in the Water, Yellowmule, Black Hawk, Hunts Arrow, Red Wolf and Red Star families.
