Obituary
Lester Flynn Hammond, 80, of Big Horn, passed away on January 7, 2022 at home surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. Les was born March 6, 1941 in Hardin, Montana. He graduated from Hardin High School in 1959. On September 8, 1962, he married the love of his life Margie Ann Kehler also in Hardin, Montana.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (O'Flynn), Lester W. Hammond, and his brother, Bert Hammond.
He is survived by his wife and four children; Cleve (Gail) Hammond, Bruce (Abby) Hammond, Kim (Michele) Hammond and Jennifer (Kevin) Hammond-Chavez; his 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his sister Peggy Penning, his brothers Willson Hammond and Tini Starkweather, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, Les was a Jack of all trades, and a master of several. Including: cowboy, trucker, carpenter, logger but most of all a blade operator extraordinaire. Full of fun and adventure, he loved to travel often stopping to smell the roses, breath the ocean air, driving over mountains (rarely chaining up when needed) "Burn it down" he would say. He always paused to visit and share a laugh with anyone he met. Les with one "S" will be truly missed by all. One of his last treasured quotes was, "Girls, you got issues? I got tissues."
The family would like to give a special thanks to Lamont Herman, Mandy Link, Stillwater Hospice, Dr. Quanbeck and the staff of Big Horn County Hospital - and his favorite nurse, Kourtney Chavez for the tender loving care she gave her grandpa.
