Lloyd Joseph Hogan, Sr.

 Lloyd Joseph Hogan Sr., 85 of Benteen took Jesus by the hand on July 5, 2023 surrounded by his family. Aalihta Baatchaache, Strong Crow was born December 4, 1937 in Crow Agency to George W. Jr and Mary Ann Reed Hogan and was raised by his Grandmother Pretty Shield. He was raised in the Benteen area and lived there his whole life on a homestead he built for his family.

      He attended Crow Agency Public School and Lodge Grass High School. He received his G. E. D. In 1976 and went on to attend Sheridan Junior College.

      He worked at B.I.A., Westmorland, Crow Tribal Housing Authority and Little Big Horn Casino until Retirement.

      In 1976 he married the love of his life, Ardith Big Shoulder and together they lived a life on his ranch at Benteen.

      Lloyd was a Cowboy through and though who was well known around the Rodeo Circuit. In his later years he enjoyed attending or watching Rodeos in person or on TV. His favorite was watching his Grandson Elvis’ Relay Team Awa Daa Hey on TV race in Calgary last year. He was also proud of his nephew Jared Stewart and his success as a singer going around the block a few times when he would see his name on a marquee in Billings. 

      His oldest son is Lloyd Hogan Jr and in following Crow Tradition was raised by his parents George and Mary Ann.

      He enjoyed going and visiting his friends and their families. His only best friends left were Woodrow Brien, Trunson Big Hair, Dan Brien Sr. and Wesley Stewart.  His Best Friends and Brothers who greeted hm at the gates of Heaven are Melvin Paul Williamson, Jimmie Onion, Steve Mullunberg, Alex Bird In Ground Sr., Andrew Old Elk, Fr. Charles Robinson, Mickey Stewart, Robert Stanley, Ivan Wilson and Oliver Sonny Hugs.

      Waiting for him in Heaven are: His Grandmother Pretty Shield, His Parents, Aunties and Uncles:  Alma Snell, Pearl Hogan, Mamie Knows His Gun, Johnny Wilson, Siblings: Victor “Tuffy” Morning, Etheline Stevenson, Emma Yellowmule, George Hogan III, Evelyn Bear Ground and Constance Hogan Stewart, Theodore Hogan, Sr., Nephew George Hogan Stewart. Grandchildren: Nyree, Loyal Hogan, Jackie Hugs, Jonathan Stewart. Great Grandchildren Johnathan and Kiomora Dream Hogan. 

      Surviving him is his wife of 47 years; Daughters: Trudy Old Crane, Helen (Mitchell) Chandler, Lorraine Hogan, LuMary Spang, Lydia Stewart and Lana (Roland) Redfield. Sons: Michael (Anna) Old Crane, Regis (April), Frank, Lloyd Jr. (Val), Larry (Rhonda), Lance, Les (Nellie), Loyal (Mary) and Lind (JohnAnn) Hogan.  Aunts: Nellie Sings in the Mountains, Mary Elizabeth Wallace, and Mardell PlainFeather. Sisters: Mary Helen (Alex) Medicine Horse Jr., Myra Gros Ventre, Annette Couture, Barbara Birdinground, Ruby Williamson, Meredith Toineeta, Elsie LaForge, Larena PlainFeather, Mary Knows His Gun, Beverly Big Man, Pauline McDonald, Alma McCormick, and Colleen Old Elk.  Brothers Ellis, Frank Knows His Gun, Richard McCormick, Sr., Ricky, Eugene Birdinground, Barry Petty, Barry Hogan, Gary Reed, Lawrence Wilson and Vernon Whiteman.  Grandchildren: Trulyn, Angelena, Lexis, Keyonna, Arcionna, Rosie, Nicole, Ashley, Snuffy, Suntaya, Isabella, Gemma, Naomi, Cecelia, Kiesha, Melissa Jade, Nevaeh, Aariah Rain, Maryann, Faye, Priscilla, Elvina, Krislyn, LaQuintay, Shelace, Lacey, Marissa, Angela, Alyssa, Regis Jr., Robert, Leland Jr., Waylon, Wolfgang, Wilbur Jr., Julian, Tobias, Michael Jr., Mikyol, Aiden, Riley, Garrick, Lloyd III, Cody, Elvis, Keenon, Christopher, Larry Jr., Les Jr., Nick, Bo, Drew Thomas, Clint Vance, Nolan and Christian Dean.
