Marlow Haley Obituary

Marlow Marie (Kinney) Haley age 75 of Hardin, formerly of Ashland, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of July 12, 2025.

Marlow was born August 5, 1949, the fourth child of Horace “Red” Kinney and Hazel Marie (Kennedy) Kinney. She grew up riding horses and getting into mischief with her siblings and cousins on the 71 Ranch near Glendive. That’s where her love for horses and the open prairie began. She became a licensed beautician. Family and friends would come from miles around to get a cut, curl, or color. If need be, she would have her “haircase” at the ready to make house calls.

This lady married her cowboy Bruce Haley, July 6, 1974, in Glendive. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared devotion. For the next 41 years they were rarely apart. Ranching, horseback riding, dancing, raising kids, and operating a restaurant, together through it all. Their hospitality is evidenced by the many guest books that line the shelves.

At a young age Marlow made the decision to dedicate her life to serve her God Jehovah as one of his witnesses. She has been part of the Hardin congregation since 1974. As one of Jehovah’s witnesses, Marlow found deep meaning in sharing hope with others and remained devoted to her spiritual beliefs throughout her life. Her calm demeanor and thoughtful words reflected her trust in the promises found in the scriptures, especially the hope of a future resurrection.

Marlow’s love for horses was lifelong and instinctive, Family horseback rides are treasured memories and a legacy shared.

Her greatest joys were time with family, spoiling her grandkids, and baking for everyone she could. Her pies, caramel rolls, and bread pudding were legendary. Whether styling hair, sewing, baking treats or offering a listening ear she made people feel seen and valued.

Marlow is known for her infectious laugh. A sound that could light up a room and lift up the spirits of everyone around her. It was the kind of laugh that lingers in memory echoing through stories and shared moments.

She is survived by those who loved her. Children Julie (Greg), Cedar, Rusty (Jessica) & Tanna. She was “Nae” to her grandchildren, Shannon, William, Michaley, Jackson, Haleyanna, and Caitlyn. Her brother Robert (Brenda) and her sister Phyllis (Nathan) as well as her spiritual family who will all miss her gentle presence and steady encouragement.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce, parents Horace and Hazel, sisters Agnes and Frances, son in law Michael, and special friend Phyllis R.

Her memory lives on in every recipe passed down, every trail ride remembered, every burst of laughter shared and every quiet act of faith and kindness.
