Patricia Joyce “Patty” Nordquist, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on May 18, 2026, with her daughters by her side. Born October 8, 1933, in Hardin, Patty was the daughter of Alex and Dorothy Mills. She was raised in Hardin alongside her sister, Marilyn and brother Jim, and remained deeply rooted in the community she called home throughout her life.
It was in Hardin where Patty met her husband, Harlan Nordquist. The two were married in 1953 and built a beautiful life together, blessed with four children: Rhonda, Scott, Pam and Richard. Together, they also built a successful business, Nordquist Electric, where Patty wore many hats as secretary, bookkeeper, and parts runner. Her children fondly remember her dedication to business-and the family rule that phone conversations had to be kept to five minutes or less when business calls might come in.
Patty’s greatest gift was her endless love for others. She was known for her compassion, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she shared that faith joyfully through her church and singing in the choir. Family smiles at the memory of her beloved dog, Pepper who would “sing along” whenever Patty practiced at home.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Dorothy Mills, her husband, Harlan Nordquist; her sister Marilyn Taylor; grandson, Josh Lowe; cousin and dear friend, Jerry Wetsch; and her sons Richard and Scott Nordquist.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Clay) Snively and Pam (RJ) Lowe; her brother Jim (Virginia) Mills; grandchildren Kristi Snively (Jon); Brian Bell (Jesse); Daniel Nordquist (Kelsey); Daryl Nordquist; and Matt Lowe (Shelby). She also has ten great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Patty made lasting friendships wherever she went, including during her final five years at The Legacy Assisted Living, where she shared laughter, kindness, and companionship with the staff and residents alike. Her family extends heartfelt thanks for the extra care and love shown to her there.
Patty will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering faith, generous spirit, and the way she made everyone feel cared for. Her Legacy of love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Patty’s life will be held at the First Congregational Church at 11:00 am on Friday, May 29th, with a luncheon following at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Riverstone Hospice for those who wish to honor Patty’s memory.
