Richard Bowler a lifelong resident of Hardin, passed away Saturday November 4, 2023.
Richard was born in Hardin January 23, 1945. Richard was preceded by his parents E.L. Bowler and Kaye Bowler, brother Bert Bowler, sister Jo Bowler, and brothers-in-law Russ Kuhn, Don Barnes, and Bill Sorger.
He is survived by his sisters Patricia Barnes, Vangie Kuhn, Cheryl Chapman, Reva (Paul) Rose, Paula Bowler, and Gail Bowler. Nephews Russ Kuhn, Ken Barnes, Drew Barnes, Andrew Kloster, Shannon Redden, and Sean Chapman. Nieces Angie Kuhn, Heather Chapman, Cortnei Bruce, Kelly Davenport, Becky Carlson, and Julie Cone as well as many great nephews and nieces.
Richard was a lifelong learner graduating college in Bozeman from Montana State University he later continued studies in Computer Science at Eastern Montana College (now MSUB). Richard had a love for photography, journalism, history, computers, and mentoring the youth of Hardin. Richard’s professional career started at the Hardin Tribune-Herald. After many changes in publishers, in 1973 the name was changed to the Hardin Herald and in 1988 it became the Big Horn County News. Richard later made a change in careers blending his love for computers and teaching to become the District Network Manager for the Hardin School District. Upon retiring from the Montana public school system, Richard continued serving the district as a substitute teacher. Richard also worked for the City of Hardin until his passing as an Associate Judge for the City Court.
Richard was loved and will be missed by many in Hardin and Big Horn County.
