Richard "Dick" R. Stern

November 24, 1943 ~ March 8, 2025 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Richard "Dick" Stern Obituary

Richard R. Stern (Dick) was born in Staples, Minnesota to Robert R. Stern and Marjorie (Barker) Stern on November 24, 1943.  He spent his growing-up years in Billings, Montana, where he was proud to serve in the Billings Army Reserves for 8 years.

Dick married Sharon Pinter in 1963 and became a father to her son, Rob.  They were blessed with two more sons, Robert in 1965 and Rick in 1967.  He and Sharon were divorced and he married Rosalind Armstrong in 1981.  He gained two more children, Kimberly Braaton (John) and Michael Armstrong (Leah).  He treated them as if they were his own.  He developed kidney disease and in 2024, began his dialysis treatment.  He passed away from this disease on March 8, 2025, at home with his loved ones.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalind, children Kimberly and John Braaton, Michael and Leah Armstrong, Rob Stern; grandchildren, Hunter Braaton, Courtney (Jessie) Fletcher, Isabella Armstrong, Garrett Armstrong, Sam (Juliane) Stern, Sarah (Florian) Stern, Aaron Stern and by 8 great grandchildren: Neveah, Malaki, Gianna, Liam, Mia, Lucia, Charlie and Beckham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marjorie, granddaughter Casandra Stern, and his sons, Robert and Rick.

His service will be held on March 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 323 N. Crawford, Hardin, MT. Interment following at Fairview Cemetery with military honors.

 

Dick sends his thanks to Dr. Demory and his kidney nurse Marie Koupal for the kind and caring treatment he consistently received from them. A thanks also to Kimberly, John and Michael, great-granddaughter Neveah and to Dr. Greiman for the lovely prayer shawl, which he used every day.
