Roxanne Old Crow Obituary

Roxanne Faith Old Crow, 61, of Lodge Grass, made her journey to the other side camp on April 27, 2025 surrounded by her family.  She was born July 12, 1963 in Sheridan, Wyoming to the late Virginia Aileen Covers Up. Basaanalakosh was given to her by the late Polly Greybull Cummins.  She was raised by the late Edmund and Nora Mildred (Yellow Weasel Whitearm) Old Crow after her father’s death and Mildred adopted her.  

She attended Lodge Grass schools and she later worked for the Crow Tribe Summer Youth program. Roxanne loved spending time with her family, siblings, grandchildren and going to Handgames, the Pow Wow circuit along with the Black Whistle Singers and Stick game circuit. She worked for the Council and District Records and Secretary of Maintenance for the Crow Tribe.  She was a good seamstress, loved doing arts and crafts and she learned the  traditional way of preparing meat from her mother.   Roxanne was an original member of the Regulators Hand Game Team Roxanne’s companion Dexter Falls Down and her spent 18 years together. She participated in Sundance, Native American Church, Sweat Lodge and practice the Catholic faith. 

She is preceded in death by her parents mother Aileen, grandparents Frank Covers Up and Jennie Bad Horse; her son Edmund Old Crow; aunts Evelyn, Velma, Marie, Theresa, Joy Matt, Faye Walking Bear Iron, Genevieve “Nappie” Conger; uncles Ross and Newton Old Crow, Paul J. Bad Horse, Sr., Lloyd Covers Up, Bill Gros Ventre and Tronson Big Hair; Dexter Falls Down, Jr. “Pudgie” and Curtis Falls Down, daughter Tiffany Falls Down; grandchildren Ta’Von Sky Old Crow, Paul D. Morning, Millie Old Crow, Derrick Covers Up, Muskie Gardner, Moraes Covers Up; sisters Roseen Takes Gun, Jennie Gros Ventre Big Day, Nadine and Billie Jean Old Bull, Ursula Bad Horse, Alpha Birdinground, Margaret “Tina” Covers Up, Donna Jefferson, Miriam, Gail and Virjama, Kenneth and Mike Iron, Lenora Pretty Weasel; brothers Frankie, Benny, Lawrence Old Bull, Sr., Bernard and Manuel Covers Up, Sr., John Gros Ventre, Felix and Woodson Faraway, Paul J.
