Obituary

Roy George Zier Jr., 58, formerly of Crow Agency was suddenly called home on the evening of May 7, 2023.  Roy was born to Roy George Zier Sr. and Rose Lynn Crow Zier on July 23, 1964 in Hardin, Montana.

Roy Jr., which everyone called “Little Roy”, was raised on the family farm and enjoyed working hard.  He had a love and passion for horses.  Roy attended schools in the Crow Agency and Hardin area.  As a young child, he had a dream of working on a ranch as a cowboy as he rode a small pony around the family farm.  As a teenager, Roy started breaking horses of his own and for several other people.  Roy’s first ranch job was in the Ryegate, Montana area and from there he worked on several ranches throughout Montana and the surrounding area.  Roy later started working on a drilling rig traveling all over the United States.  As they were drilling in California, he sustained severe injuries that changed his dreams and was the start of many physical struggles.

Roy loved and raised his three children, TayLiegh, Melissa and Colby Tanner and always tried to do the best he could to provide a home for his children despite his many health problems and struggles.  Roy loved to garden, fish, and was often found on the river fishing with his children and father Roy Sr. and brothers, Donnie Sr., Darrel, David and whoever wanted to join him.

Roy Jr. is preceded in death by his father, Roy George Zier Sr., brothers, Darrel Roy Zier, Baby Zier, and David Lynn Zier, niece, April Zier, grandparents, Henry Sr. and Katherine Zier, Harley and Iowa Sixberry, great-grandparents, David and Mary Zier, James and Edith Crow, uncles, Wilbur Zier, Bobby Zier, Billy Zier, Henry Zier, Jr., Jake Zier and Ronnie Zier, cousin which was like a brother, Leonard Zier, aunts, Betty Zier Finley, Doris Zier Sheldon, Janet Zier Colden, Milly Zier Nelson and numerous other aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, and cousins.
