Rudolph “Rudy” King, Jr., Meona’hane (Morning Killer), age 73, of Busby made his journey Home on Monday, January 15, 2024, surrounded by his son Woods and family.   

Rudy or “Junior” as he was affectionately known was a Vietnam Era Veteran and Lance Corporal in the US Marines. He served as a Military Police while enlisted. Being a Marine was a title he was very proud of. This began a family tradition of Marines or Jarheads if you know the lingo.

After his service he began his career in Law Enforcement with the BIA. He worked for several years for his beloved Northern Cheyenne Tribe. His career also took him many places, he worked in Wendover Nevada for the Paiute Tribe. He also lived and work for a time in Pryor, MT for the Crow Tribe.

He served in all categories in his career in Law Enforcement. Upon his retirement from the BIA, he served for a time as the Undersheriff for Big Horn County.

He then began employment in many different fields in the following years always upholding the solid work ethic he learned from his parents.

Rudy was a Jack of all trades. He was most proud of being an Auctioneer. He enjoyed the interaction of meeting people, and he always had a plan of some sort.  He was a hard worker and took pride in all that he endeavored to do.

He attended high school at St. Labre, played on the State Championship basketball team in 1967. An accomplishment he was very proud of, He graduated from St. Labre in 1968.

He even had his own band, “The Moon dogs” and we remember him always singing “Silver Wings”.

He was born to Rudolph, Sr. & Eva Littlewolf King on Jan. 24, 1950, in Crow Agency. He was the oldest of their 4 children. He was raised in Busby along with his siblings Floyd, Julie & Raymond.

He is Survived by his Longtime companion, Marion Spang of Birney, Montana, His sons, Tom Tandy,  Rudolph, (Mary) King III of St. Ignatius, Montana, and His Grandchildren, Rudolph J. King IV, Ryan S. Wickenberg-King, Jordan L. R. King, Calista R. Magpie of St. Ignatius, Montana, Delphine L. King-Brush of Lodge Grass, Montana, Bree-Ann Leigh King, of Ashland Montana, Justin Jr., Terrian, Leah and Julian LittleBird of Birney, MT and His Great Grandchildren, Alexis J. and Angelica J. Littlehead of Ashland, MT.

His Daughters, Melody (Ian) Loos, of Grand Junction, Colorado, Michelle Harada, of Wolf Point, Montana. Adopted Daughters, Beverly Limpy and  Monica Norse.

His Sister, Julie Elkshoulder, of Busby, Montana, and Aunt Claudine Littlewolf, of Busby, Montana, Sister-in law Gloria Waters, of Busby, Montana. All his Littlebird brothers and sisters.

He is also survived by his adopted brothers Sidney “Chipper” Fitzpatrick & John Chavers.

His extended family, (King), Littlewolf, Littlebird, Stands In Timber, Hiwalker, Whitewolf, One Bear, Glenmore, Waters, Charette, Yellowfox, Gardner, Kellum, Bearcomesout. Please forgive us in our time of grief if we left anyone out as our family is very large.

Rudy was preceded in death by his folks, Rudolph King, Sr. & Eva Littlewolf King, his sons, Sheriff Darrell D. King & Myron Chavez, daughter, Bree-Ann Lindsey Reed King. Brothers, Floyd Waters Sr. & Raymond King. Brother-in-law, Leonard Elkshoulder, Sr., grandsons, Chad Sincere Elkshoulder, Joseph Jackson Anketell.
